Titans To Make First Splash Of Season

The UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team commences the 2016-17 season at the Wisconsin College Showcase on Saturday (Oct. 22) in Brown Deer.

The Titans then host the first of their four home dual meets against Carroll University on Oct. 29 in Albee Hall. UW-Oshkosh also welcomes UW-Whitewater to its home venue on Nov. 12, Lawrence University on Jan. 7 and Ripon College on Feb. 4.

UW-Oshkosh's dual meet schedule features road meets at UW-Eau Claire on Nov. 19, UW-Stevens Point on Dec. 9, Beloit College on Jan. 14 and five-time defending WIAC champion UW-La Crosse on Jan. 21.

Last season, the Titans owned a 1-5 record in dual meets. UW-Oshkosh's lone victory was a 103-99 decision over Ripon College.

The Titans' regular season slate also includes the Carthage College Invitational on Dec. 1-3 and the University of Illinois-Chicago Diving Invitational on Feb. 4.

UW-Oshkosh concludes the season at the WIAC Championship on Feb. 16-18 in Brown Deer. Last year, the Titans finished fifth at the league championship with 284 points.

Christopher Culp, the Titans' second-year head coach, welcomes back 12 letter winners, including Gabrielle Kraus, who earned a pair of top 20 finishes at last year's NCAA Division III Region 1 Diving Championship. She placed 13th off the 3-meter board and 20th off the 1-meter plank.

Also back for UW-Oshkosh is Taylor Teske, who has played a role in four school records over the past two seasons. Teske set the school mark in the 100-meter backstroke a year ago while swimming legs on the Titans' record-setting 800-yard freestyle, 200-yard medley and 400-yard medley relays.

UW-Oshkosh also returns McKinzie Halkola and Alison Panske from the program's record-breaking 200-yard medley relay squad from last season.

Rounding out the Titan returning letter winners are Kara Atwood, Colleen Barnstable, Sarah Gee, Elizabeth Kelly, Teagan Murphy, Maya Puleo and Davi Ruckdashel. Barnstable finished 12th in the 3-meter diving at last season's WIAC Championship.

The NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championship will be held at the CISD Natatorium on March 15-18 in Shenandoah, Texas.
