Challoner, Hesby Lead Titans At Rochester Invitational

Katie Challoner and Sally Hesby turned in top-10 finishes to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team at the Rochester Invitational held this past weekend (Dec. 5-7) in Rochester, Minn.

NCAA Division I University of South Dakota won the 10-team meet with 1,724 points, while NCAA Division II and host St. Cloud State University (Minn.) finished second with 1,637.5.

UW-La Crosse placed third in the team standings with 1,074 points, NCAA Division II Minnesota State University-Moorhead fourth with 1,061.5 and NCAA Division II Minnesota State University-Mankato fifth with 1,052. UW-Oshkosh finished ninth with 281 points.

Challoner placed fourth in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events with respective times of 1:06.10 and 2:27.40. Swimmers from St. Cloud State University won the events, with Abby Rasmussen outracing 39 challengers at 100 yards in 1:03.48 and Kellyn Craig besting 42 competitors at 200 yards in 2:19.71.

Challoner added a 22nd-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.21 and teamed with McKinzie Halkola, Britney Hilgendorf and Taylor Teske for 14th place in the 400-yard medley relay with a school-record time of 4:04.40.

Hesby finished ninth in the 3-meter diving with 346.30 points and added an 11th-place showing in the 1-meter diving with 335.65. Greysen Hertting from the University of South Dakota won both events, totaling 479.80 points off the 1-meter board and 481.00 off the 3-meter plank.

Katie Kubisiak placed 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.23 and 16th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.38.

Kubisiak also teamed with Paige Burgess, Casey Houts and Carolyn Patt for 30th place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:04.29, and Patt, Elizabeth Kelly and Janelle Sharpee for 33rd in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.81.

Placing 15th with a time of 8:22.17 was UW-Oshkosh's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Hilgendorf, Abigail Langoltz, Madeline Langlotz and Carissa Priebusch.

Teske rounded out UW-Oshkosh's top-20 individual finishers with a 17th-place swim of 59.20 in the 100-yard backstroke.

UW-Oshkosh's 800-yard freestyle quartet of Halkola, Houts, Sharpee and Sarah Gee placed 19th with a time of 8:30.60, while the Titans' 200-yard medley group of Challoner, Teske, Sara Keller and Alison Panske finished 20th with a time of 1:55.51.

UW-Oshkosh hosts Lawrence University on Friday (Dec. 12) in Albee Hall.
