Titans Victorious Over Pioneers In Home Opener

The UW-Oshkosh women's swimming and diving team celebrated its first home meet of the season with a 126-111 victory over Carroll University on Saturday (Nov. 1) in Albee Hall.

UW-Oshkosh owned the first-place finisher in eight of the 13 events, including multiple winners Sally Hesby, Britney Hilgendorf and Taylor Teske.

Hesby captured both diving categories by posting winning scores of 224.00 off the 1-meter board and 223.35 off the 3-meter plank.

Hilgendorf was the winner in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.15 and the 1,000-yard freestyle with a performance of 11:32.41.

Teske earned her first-place mentions with swims of 1:03.40 in the 100-yard backstroke and 2:06.69 in the 200-yard freestyle.

Other event winners for the Titans were Katie Challoner and Janelle Sharpee. Challoner had a time of 1:10.31 in the 100-yard breaststroke and Sharpee a mark of 5:52.96 in the 500-yard freestyle. Challoner also placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.12.

Taking second place for the Titans were Colleen Barnstable in the 1-meter (187.10) and 3-meter (193.95) diving, Casey Houts in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:56.21) and Madeline Langlotz in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.63).

UW-Oshkosh also recorded second-place relay times of 1:57.12 in the 200-yard medley and 1:47.00 in the 200-yard freestyle.

The Titans' third-place performers were Sharpee in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:09.59), McKinzie Halkola in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.25), Katie Kubisiak in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.08) and Laura Sullivan in the 500-yard freestyle (5:54.20).

UW-Oshkosh is idle until it hosts UW-Whitewater on Nov. 14 in Albee Hall.
