Eight First-Place Finishes Help Titans Defeat Red Hawks

Britney Hilgendorf won two events and swam on a first-place relay team as UW-Oshkosh defeated Ripon College, 142-53, in a women's swimming & diving meet held Saturday (Feb. 1) in Ripon.

Hilgendorf was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.54 and the 400-yard individual medley with an effort of 5:00.89. She also joined Ali Christensen, Hannah Forcey and Carissa Priebusch to record a time of 1:50.59 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Marissa Graff had a nice meet as well, winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:54.83 and swimming with Katie Challoner, Sarah Gee and Vanessa Jagodinsky to post a first-place performance of 2:01.66 in the 200-yard medley relay. Graff also finished second in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:08.87.

Other event winners for the Titans were Challoner in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.06, Priebusch in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:11.83 and Laura Sullivan in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 12:20.45. Sullivan also finished third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:13.56.

Forcey turned in a pair of second-place efforts after swimming to times of 27.12 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 59.46 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.

The Titans' Sara Keller finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:47.58 and third in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:09.80.

UW-Oshkosh's Sarah Gee took third place twice after registering times of 27.65 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 1:01.28 in the 100-yard freestyle.

Other second-place finishes went to the Titans' Casey Houts in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.56), Jagodinsky in the 500-yard freestyle (6:13.09) and Katie Kubisiak in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.81).

UW-Oshkosh's remaining third-place finishes belonged to Christensen in the 1,000-yard freestyle (13:47.62) and Paige Burgess in the 200-yard freestyle (2:15.36).

UW-Oshkosh is off until it competes at the WIAC Championship on Feb. 20-22 at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer.
