Falcons Grasp Close Victory Over Titans
Britney Hilgendorf (Fr. • Madison) won both the 100 and
1,650-yard freestyle races as UW-Oshkosh dropped a 124-113
women’s swimming and diving match to UW-River Falls on
Saturday (Nov. 19) in River Falls.
Hilgendorf accounted for two of the seven Titan victories with her
times of 57.59 and 19:07.17. UW-Oshkosh racked up more points with
first-place relay scores of 1:45.39 in the 200-yard freestyle and
2:05.35 in the 200-yard medley relay.
Katie Duffey (Jr. • McFarland), Melissa Harvey (Sr. •
Kingsford, Mich.) and Emily Shandley (Jr. • Oak Creek) each
captured one event. Duffey posted a mark of 1:09.36 in the 100-yard
backstroke, while Harvey counted a 5:36.60 in the 500-yard
freestyle and Shandley a 2:02.61 in the 200-yard freestyle.
That trio also recorded another top-three finish for each swimmer.
Harvey earned second place in the 400-yard individual medley at
5:07.25, as did Shandley in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:06.45.
Duffey tacked on a third-place result with her 400-yard individual
medley time of 5:17.28.
Hannah Forcey (So. • Appleton) helped the Titans with a
second-place clocking of 2:11.20 in the 200-yard freestyle and a
third-place mark of 5:52.53 in the 500-yard freestyle. Vanessa
Jagodinsky (So. • Green Bay) contributed her 1:10.89 in the
100-yard backstroke for second, along with a 2:12.34 in the
200-yard freestyle for third.
Samantha Sommers (Sr. • Suamico) concluded the runner-up
finishes with a 1:15.76 in the 100-yard breaststroke. She also
gained a third-place listing in the 100-yard freestyle by using
1:00.41. The remaining third-place standings came from Marissa
Graff (So. • Houghton, Mich.) in the 50-yard freestyle at
27.77 and Liz Schneider (Jr. • Madison) in the 1,650-yard
freestyle at 20:01.49.
UW-Oshkosh has some time off before the Falcon Invitational on
Dec. 2-3 in Minneapolis, Minn.
