Titans Unable To Keep Up With Norse, Warhawks

Emily Shandley (Jr. • Oak Creek) won both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races during UW-Oshkosh defeats to the Luther College (Iowa) and UW-Whitewater women's swimming and diving teams on Saturday (Nov. 5) in Whitewater.

The Titans were on the short end of a 159.5-120.5 score against Luther College and a 179-94 result against UW-Whitewater.

Shandley posted winning times of 25.41 in the 50-yard freestyle and 54.95 in the 100-yard freestyle. She also contributed a second-place result with her time of 5:37.68 in the 500-yard freestyle. Excelling with the butterfly stroke, Samantha Sommers (Sr. • Suamico) notched second-place finishes at both 50 yards (29.28) and 100 yards (1:04.55).

Allison Booth (So. • Middleton) and Melissa Harvey (Sr. • Kingsford, Mich.) tallied a pair of top-three listings. Booth took second in the three-meter dive at 203.85 and third in the one-meter plunge at 205.95. From the backstroke results, Harvey finished second at 50 yards (30.26) and third at 100 yards (1:04.37).

The last second-place finish came from Britney Hilgendorf (Fr. • Madison), who clocked a time of 1:06.70 in the 100-yard individual medley. Hilgendorf added a fourth-place mark of 57.68 in the 100-yard freestyle. The Titans also compiled a third-place time of 2:00.21 in the 200-yard medley relay.

In addition to Sommers, Katie Duffey (Jr. • McFarland) performed well in the butterfly events. Duffey finished third at 50 yards (29.33) and fourth at 100 yards (1:06.60). With her fourth-place time of 5:51.44 in the 500-yard freestyle, Marissa Graff (So. • Houghton, Mich.) rounded out the top-four listings.

UW-Oshkosh’s next competition is against UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Nov. 12) in Albee Hall.
