Division II Wildcats Overwhelm Titans
Emily Shandley (Jr. • Oak Creek) was involved in four
top-three finishes as UW-Oshkosh fell to the Northern Michigan
University women’s swimming and diving team, 209-50, on
Saturday (Jan. 7) in Albee Hall.
Individually, Shandley earned second place in both the 100- and
200-yard freestyle races with times of 56.79 and 2:00.46,
respectively. She then placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a
time of 26.37.
In the relays, Shandley swam on UW-Oshkosh's 200-yard freestyle
quartet that posted a third-place time of 1:46.33. Other members of
the group were Katie Duffey (Jr. • McFarland), Britney
Hilgendorf (Fr. • Madison) and Samantha Sommers (Sr. •
Suamico).
Melissa Harvey (Sr. • Kingsford, Mich.) compiled second-place
results with her times of 1:04.51 in the 100-yard backstroke and
2:17.95 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Other Titans finishing third were Liz Schneider (Jr. •
Madison) in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:57.66 and
Marissa Graff (So. • Houghton, Mich.) in the 500-yard
freestyle with an effort of 5:42.74.
UW-Oshkosh had four fourth-place finishers as Duffey marked a time of 1:07.16 in the 100-yard butterfly, Hilgendorf a performance of 2:24.37 in the 200-yard individual medley, Sommers an effort of 2:51.53 in the 200-yard breaststroke and Vanessa Jagodinsky (So. • Green Bay) a value of 2:29.87 in the 200-yard butterfly.
Northern Michigan University, a NCAA Division II member, owned
the first-place result in all 16 events. The Wildcats had Debbi
Lawrence win the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events and the
100-yard butterfly. She also swam on the winning 200-yard freestyle
relay squad.
The Titans visit UW-La Crosse for a dual meet on Saturday (Jan.
14).
