Division II Wildcats Shower Titans
Melissa Harvey (Jr. • Kingsford, Mich.) was UW-Oshkosh's
lone individual winner as the Titans dropped a 145-97 decision to
the Northern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team
on Saturday (Nov. 6) in Marquette, Mich.
Harvey paced UW-Oshkosh by winning the 200-yard individual medley
with a time of 2:28.09 and finishing second in the 100-yard
backstroke with a performance of 1:05.81.
The Titans also won the 200-yard freestyle relay as Hannah Forcey
(Fr. • Appleton), Marissa Graff (Fr. • Houghton, Mich.),
Emily Shandley (So. • Oak Creek) and Samantha Sommers (Jr.
• Suamico) swam to a time of 1:46.52.
Northern Michigan University had four individuals win two events,
including Kellie Vander Baan who placed first in both the one- and
three-meter diving categories with scores of 259.50 and 268.85,
respectively. Gaby Alzaga won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of
2:01.47 and the 100-yard backstroke with a swim of 1:00.23, while
Kelsey Sipple won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events with
efforts of 25.87 and 56.58, respectively. The NCAA Division II
Wildcats also had Lindsay Stedman win the 500- and 1,000-yard
freestyle events with times of 5:35.82 and 11:23.69,
respectively.
Sommers contributed a pair of second-place individual finishes for
UW-Oshkosh by recording times of 27.26 in the 50-yard freestyle and
1:05,78 in the 100-yard butterfly. The Titans also had four other
second-place efforts as Graff posted a time of 11:41.33 in the
1,000-yard freestyle, Shandley a mark of 2:04.36 in the 200-yard
freestyle, Leanne Bowen (So. • Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) a score
of 180.45 in the three-meter diving and Katie Duffey (So. •
McFarland) a performance of 2:28.19 in the 200-yard individual
medley.
Allison Booth (Fr. • Middleton) led UW-Oshkosh's third-place
listings by notching scores of 215.92 and 180.35 in the one- and
three-meter diving events, respectively. Other third-place finishes
went to Graff in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:45.72,
Shandley in the 100-yard freestyle with an effort of 57.23,
Elizabeth Johnson (Fr. • Madison) in the 100-yard backstroke
with a performance of 1:25.13 and Heather Statz (Sr. • Sun
Prairie) in the 200-yard freestyle with a value of 2:13.91.
UW-Oshkosh finished second in the 200-yard medley relay as
Johnson, Vanessa Jagodinsky (Fr. • Green Bay), Lauren Klasen
(Fr. • Green Bay) and Karen Thompson (Fr. • Brookfield)
registered a time of 2:03.39.
UW-Oshkosh competes in a dual meet against UW-Eau Claire on
Saturday (Nov. 13) in Eau Claire.
