Eagles Dunk Titans
UW-La Crosse won 10 of 13 events as it
posted a 152-84 victory over the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming and
diving team on Saturday (Nov. 21) in La Crosse.
The two-time defending WIAC champion Eagles received a pair of
victories from both Danielle Ellingson and Katelyn Hartung.
Ellingson won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:17.00 and
the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.08. Hartung
finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.08 and
the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:03.83.
UW-La Crosse also received wins from Shannon Doyle in the
three-meter diving (261.30), Brittany Erb in the 200-yard
breaststroke (2:40.42), Chelsea Hoff in the 200-yard freestyle
(1:57.47), Rachel Lavalley in the one-meter diving (2:54.10) and
Kasey Madden in the 50-yard freestyle (25.66).
The Eagles picked up their remaining victory in the 400-yard
medley relay as Madden, Jennifer Bryson, Dayna Johnson and Brianna
Peyer swam to a time of 4:07.76.
UW-Oshkosh was led by the first-place performances of both Lynnea
Krajco (Sr. • Verona) and Molly Zahour (Sr. • Cedarburg).
Krajco won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:47.39 while
Zahour tallied the top effort in the 200-yard butterfly with a time
of 2:30.17.
The Titans also won the 400-yard freestyle relay as Krajco, Katie
Duffey (Fr. • McFarland), Angie Picotte (Sr. • Andover,
Minn.) and Heather Statz (Jr. • Sun Prairie) marked a time of
3:59.52.
UW-Oshkosh owned a pair of second-place finishes as Janna Oelrich
(Sr. • Marathon) and Emily Shandley (Fr. • Oak Creek)
recorded times of 2:44.53 in the 200-yard breaststroke and 57.73 in
the 100-yard freestyle, respectively.
The Titans' Jana Krautkramer (Sr. • Marathon) took third
place in two events, the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:38.61
and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:56.47.
Other third-place finishes went to UW-Oshkosh's Picotte in the
100-yard freestyle (58.13), Susan Curtis (Sr. • Cambridge,
Minn.) in the 500-yard freestyle (6:11.37) and Liz Schneider (So.
• Madison) in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.32).
UW-Oshkosh's 400-yard medley relay team of Oelrich, Shandley,
Zahour and Melissa Harvey (So. • Iron Mountain, Mich.)
finished third with a time of 4:20.07.
UW-Oshkosh returns to the pool on Dec. 4 at the UW-River Falls
Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
