Titans Hold On For One-Goal Win Over The Falcons

UW-Oshkosh scored twice in the first 19 minutes of play and held on for a 2-1 victory over the Concordia University Wisconsin women's soccer team on Tuesday (Oct. 15) in Mequon.

The Titans (5-7-1) took a 1-0 lead on Delaney Karl's goal in the contest's 16th minute (15:34) of action and a 2-0 advantage on Addie Schmitz's score in the 19th (18:59). Amber Richter assisted on Karl's first goal of the season while Maddie Morris assisted on Schmitz's third.

Concordia University Wisconsin (11-3) cut its deficit to 2-1 on Selena Esten's goal 12th goal of the season in the 61st minute (60:18).

Goalkeeper Erin Toomey preserved UW-Oshkosh's 14th win over Concordia University Wisconsin in 19 meetings (14-4-1 record) by saving four shots after the Falcons pulled to within one score of the Titans. Toomey finished the match with eight saves, including the last one off a shot by Falcon Alexandra Tomich with 10:34 remaining.

Concordia University Wisconsin goalkeeper Kaeley Staerkel blocked seven UW-Oshkosh shots, including two before the Titans took their one-goal lead.

UW-Oshkosh concluded the contest with 18 shots, including 12 in the first half, and three corner kicks. The Titans had seven players attempt shots, including six by Schmitz and three by Mallory Knight.

Concordia University Wisconsin totaled 19 shots, including 12 in the second half, and seven corner kicks. Esten had five shots, Tomich four and Isabel Downs three for the Falcons.

UW-Oshkosh returns home to host UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 19) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
