Titans Win Second Straight Conference Match

Mallory Knight's first multiple-goal game of her career provided all of the scoring as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team won its second straight conference match with a 2-1 victory over UW-Stout on Saturday (Oct. 6) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Knight gave the Titans (5-6-1, 2-1 WIAC) a 1-0 advantage when she scored on a 25-yard kick during the game's 17th minute (16:49) and later broke a 1-1 tie with her score from 15-yards out in the 54th (53:06). Knight, who owns a team-leading five goals on the season, received assists from Delaney Karl on her first score and Kylee Brown on her second.

Knight's match-winning goal was her third of the year. She also tallied the decisive score during UW-Oshkosh victories over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Sept. 9 and Lawrence University on Sept. 12.

UW-Oshkosh's 1-0 lead over UW-Stout (2-9-1, 0-3 WIAC) lasted until Blue Devil Sydney Kasper scored on a short 5-yard kick during the 31st minute (30:41). Kasper's 25th career goal followed a pass from Marissa Steele.

Both teams had shots bounce off the crossbar as UW-Oshkosh's Hannah Zacher hit the pipe with her kick in the 39th minute and UW-Stout's Steele with her boot in the 51st.

UW-Oshkosh outshot UW-Stout 14-4 in the first half and 12-4 in the second. The Titans' 26 overall shot count included 10 on goal. The Blue Devils attempted four of their 10 total shots on goal. UW-Oshkosh recorded 14 of the contest's 18 corner kicks.

Twelve players launched shots for UW-Oshkosh, including Karl and Knight who fired four apiece. The Titans also had three shots released by both Zacher and Tory Schumann.

UW-Stout had five players attempt shots, including Kasper, Bella Pedlar and Katie Sukanen who all discharged two.

Erin Toomey guarded the UW-Oshkosh goal and saved three shots (two in the first half) while Claudia Anderson protected the UW-Stout net and blocked eight shots (five in the first half).

UW-Oshkosh breaks away from its WIAC schedule to host non-league opponent Loras College (Iowa) on Wednesday (Oct. 10) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
