Titans Rally For Overtime Win Over Raiders

Mallory Knight scored 55 seconds into overtime to give the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team a 2-1 comeback victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Sunday (Sept. 9) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Knight recorded her match-winning goal, an 11-yard kick, on the only shot attempted by the two teams during the brief extra session. Knight's score followed a pass from Delaney Karl.

UW-Oshkosh (2-1-1) trailed the Raiders, 1-0, before Hannah Zacher scored on a 10-yard kick during the game's 75th minute (74:39). Zacher earned the goal off a serve from Knight.

The teams were relatively quiet during the final 15:21 of regulation as only one shot was taken, a kick by Knight with 5:40 to play.

Following a scoreless first half, Milwaukee School of Engineering (1-4) took the lead 84 seconds (46:00) into the second half on Jeray Riffel's goal. Riffel's 15-yard kick was assisted by Jill Ruark.

UW-Oshkosh missed out on taking the lead midway through the first half as Karl's kick bounced off the post during the 32nd minute of action.

The Titans totaled 17 shots, including 10 in the first half and six in the second. The Raiders compiled four shots, two in each.

UW-Oshkosh's shot count was led by the four from Knight and the two apiece from Karl, Zacher and Addie Schmitz. Milwaukee School of Engineering received two shots from Garcie Horton.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Madelyn Runyan played the entire match and save one shot, a kick by Jessica Jefferson during the contest's 39th minute.

Milwaukee School of Engineering goalkeeper Abbie Lorenz blocked five shots, including kicks by Ashley Baalke in the 17th, Alexis Brewer in the 45th and Savannah Barnes and Maddie Hill in 51st minute.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Appleton for a match against Lawrence University of Wednesday (Sept. 14).
