Dwyer Named Titans' Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach

CJ Dwyer, a 2016 UW-Oshkosh graduate, returns to his alma mater this fall as a member of the school's coaching staff for women's soccer.

Dwyer spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant coach with the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer program. In 2016, Dwyer helped the Warriors to a 9-8-5 record, including a 1-0 victory over nationally ranked Concordia University Wisconsin, and a berth in the championship match of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament.

"CJ's enthusiasm and love for the game of soccer will be a great addition to our program," said UW-Oshkosh head women's soccer coach Erin Coppernoll. "He has jumped right in and made his presence known immediately. It is nice to have an assistant coach who went to school here and knows all the ins and outs of the university and Oshkosh community."

Dwyer joined the Wisconsin Lutheran College coaching staff after graduating from UW-Oshkosh with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. Dwyer played two games for the 2014 UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team before suffering a season-ending injury. The Titans compiled a 14-5-2 record that season and captured the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.

Dwyer previously held coaching positions with the Oshkosh United Soccer Club (2015, 2017) and Menomonee Falls High School (2011-14).

"I'm very excited about coming back to UW-Oshkosh and assisting Erin in coaching the women's soccer team," said Dwyer. "What excites me the most is having the ability to work with the younger classes and help them develop their crafts. We are planning to evolve the soccer culture here at UW-Oshkosh, and with dedicated recruiting efforts and exciting young talent, we can bring this already exceptional program to a new level of success."

Dwyer owns an "E" coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation. He is currently pursuing a "D" coaching license from the United Soccer Coaches as well as Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Dwyer, a Menomonee Falls High School graduate, earned a master's degree in Leadership and Innovation from Wisconsin Lutheran College in May. In addition to his coaching duties at UW-Oshkosh, Dwyer also works for Orangetheory Fitness in Appleton.

UW-Oshkosh opens its 2018 season against Luther College (Iowa) on Aug. 31 in Duluth, Minn.
