Titans Continue To Rule Over Pioneers

Maddie Morris and Felicia Retrum scored goals as UW-Oshkosh remained unbeaten in WIAC play with a 2-0 victory over the UW-Platteville women's soccer team on Saturday (Oct. 7) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Morris gave UW-Oshkosh (5-5-2, 2-0-1 WIAC) a 1-0 lead with her 18-yard kick that bounced off the crossbar and into the net during the 21st minute (20:55) of action. Abby Austin provided the pass that allowed Morris to score her second goal of the season.

The Titans held their one-goal advantage until Retrum scooped up a loose ball in front of the UW-Platteville net and scored on a 5-yard kick with just five seconds to play in the 90-minute contest. The goal was Retrum's first of the year.

UW-Oshkosh preserved its sixth shutout of the season with the help of goalkeeper Jessica Galason. Galason blocked seven UW-Platteville shots, including a pair by Katie Baierl during the game's final 24 minutes. Galason's last save came with 4:10 remaining.

UW-Platteville goalkeeper Alyssa Sickler recorded three of her eight saves during the final six minutes of play. The Pioneers also had a team save early in the first half.

UW-Oshkosh posted overwhelming advantages of 26-11 in shots and 11-3 in corner kicks. The Titans launched 14 shots in the second half while earning six of their corner kicks in the first period.

A total of 11 UW-Oshkosh players attempted shots, including Austin who paced the Titans with five. UW-Oshkosh also received four shots from Morris and three apiece from Mallory Knight and Fiona Neary

UW-Platteville acquired three of its shots from Baierl and two each from Bianca Mahoney, Taylor Martin and Anna Sobal. Sobal entered the match with a WIAC-leading nine goals on the season.
