Dutch Stingy In Win Over Titans

Central College (Iowa) scored during the 10th minute of play and held on for a 1-0 victory over the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team on Saturday (Sept. 9) in Pella, Iowa.

Lauryn Kramer tallied the match-winning goal for the Dutch (4-0) off a corner kick from Lauren Vahlkamp at the 9:33 mark of the game. The score gave Central College its first win over UW-Oshkosh in three all-time meetings. 

UW-Oshkosh (0-2-1) was limited to just seven shots, three in the first half and four in the second. Addie Schmitz had the Titans' only shots on goal, attempts stopped by Central College goalkeeper Taylor Golt during the contest's 31st (30:44) and 34th (33:21) minute.

The Titans also had Kendra Jepson launch two shots and Taylor Arnold, Abby Austin and Michaela Schenk one apiece. 

Central College attempted 15 shots, including four on goal. In addition to the score by Kramer, the Dutch had shots by Elise Askelsen stopped in the 46th minute (45:21) and Erin Manion in both the 59th (58:54) and 65th minute (64:27) by UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Madelyn Runyan. Manion led Central College with four overall shots.

Golt played the entire match and saved two shots to give Central College a shutout during each of its four matches of the 2017 season.

Jessica Galason guarded the UW-Oshkosh goal in the first half and allowed the only shot she faced to score. Runyan protected the Titans' goal in the second period and blocked all three shots she faced.

UW-Oshkosh remains in Iowa to play at Grinnell College on Sunday (Sept. 10).
