Overtime Goal Lifts Mustangs Past Titans

Marissa Inglisa scored during the sixth minute of overtime to give Stevenson University (Md.) a 1-0 victory over the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team on Saturday (Sept. 2) in Owings Mills, Md.

Inglisa recorded her 12-yard, match-winning kick off a pass from Brianna Christie at the 95:26 mark of the contest. The shot was Inglisa's third of the game, with the others coming during the 57th and 70th minute of activity.

Stevenson University (2-0) had an opportunity to score just four minutes into the match, but Kellen Wittman's six-yard shot off a free kick was stopped by UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Madelyn Runyan.

Wittman came close to scoring again in the 18th minute as a 30-yard shot she launched deflected off Runyan and bounced off the crossbar.

Stevenson University, a first-time opponent of the Titans (0-1-1), had four shots saved by UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Jessica Galason in the second half. Galason blocked shots by the Mustangs' Allison Arters in the 58th minute, Gabrielle Arters in the 60th, Wittman in the 79th and Emily Lord in the 81st.

In overtime, Galason denied consecutive shots by Christie during the third and fourth minute of extra action.

UW-Oshkosh's lone shot on goal was launched by Emily Burg during the game's 49th minute. Stevenson University goalkeeper Tiffany McKee blocked Burg's kick and went on to record her second shutout in as many matches.

The Titans finished the contest with seven total shots, including two by Taylor Arnold. Wittman tallied six and Christie four of the Mustangs' 21 overall shots.

Stevenson University had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Iowa next weekend for matches at Central College on Saturday (Sept. 9) and Grinnell College on Sunday (Sept. 10).
