Titans Hold On For Shutout Of Spartans

AJ Jackson's first career goal was a match winner as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team pulled out a 1-0 victory over the University of Dubuque on Saturday (Sept. 3) in Dubuque, Iowa.

Jackson scored from 17 yards off of a crossing pass from Rachel Elliott during the game's 22nd minute (21:10). Jackson's goal came on her only shot of the contest.

Madelyn Runyan, making her first career start in goal, stopped four shots to preserve UW-Oshkosh's shutout. She blocked three shots during the first half and made her final save in the 50th minute.

UW-Oshkosh (2-0) totaled 10 of its 14 shots against the Spartans in the second half. The Titans were paced by the five shots from Rachel Elliott and the three from Megan Paulick.

The University of Dubuque (0-2) ended the match with eight shots, including three by Kyleigh McLaughlin. Spartan goalkeeper Paige Dykstra registered five of her six saves in the second half.

The Titans earned five of the game's six corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh is unbeaten during its three matches with the University of Dubuque. The Titans also defeated the Spartans by scores of 3-1 last season in Oshkosh and 2-0 in Dubuque during the 2014 campaign.

UW-Oshkosh travels to St. Joseph, Minn., to play the College of Saint Benedict on Monday (Sept. 5).
