Falcons' Second-Half Goal Beats Titans
Carley Pfannerstill broke a scoreless battle with her goal in the 76th minute to lead the Concordia University Wisconsin women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday (Sept. 17) in Mequon.
Pfannerstill scored the game's decisive goal on a 15-yard kick with 14:57 remaining. The boot, which followed a cross from Brittany Klumpp, extended the Falcons' winning streak to four matches.
UW-Oshkosh (3-3-1) attempted 16 shots, including 11 in the first half. The Titans had their four shots on goal saved by Concordia University Wisconsin goalkeeper Tabitha Ortiz.
Rachel Elliott launched five UW-Oshkosh shots, while Robyn Elliott fired three and Katelyn Fladten two. The Titans had a chance to tie the score in the closing minutes, but a kick by Fladten bounced off the crossbar with 1:45 remaining.
Concordia University Wisconsin (4-2) transmitted 11 shots, including six by Pfannerstill and three by Emily Ciesielczyk. The Falcons had just two shots on goal, with the other being a Ciesielczyk attempt that was saved by UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi.
UW-Oshkosh had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
UW-Oshkosh visits St. Norbert College on Tuesday (Sept. 23) to conclude its string of four consecutive road matches.
