Titans, Knights Play To Overtime Tie

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team lost an early two-goal lead and settled for a 2-2, double-overtime tie with Wartburg College (Iowa) on Sunday (Sept. 14) in Waverly, Iowa.

UW-Oshkosh (3-2-1) jumped ahead of the Knights when Kali Jahn scored off a pass from Felicia Retrum just 8:19 into the contest. Jahn tallied the goal on her lone shot of the match.

The Titans took a 2-0 lead when Rachel Elliott scored off a serve from Christina Mauthe at the 17-minute mark. Elliott finished the match with a team-leading three shots, all on goal.

Wartburg College (2-2-2) sliced its deficit in half when Brittany Frush scored off a pass from Morgan Neundorf at the 32-minute mark. The goal was the first allowed by UW-Oshkosh during its last 482 minutes of regulation play.

Wartburg College then tied the score on Alyssa Hewitt's goal during the 50th minute (49:48) of play.

The first overtime session was quiet as neither team registered a shot. The second overtime period featured five of the six shots belonging to Wartburg College.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 13 shots and three corner kicks, while Wartburg College compiled 23 shots, including seven by Hewitt, and seven corner kicks.

A total of 14 shots were saved in the contest, including eight by UW-Oshkosh's Nina Muzi. Wartburg College's Beth Crow had the remaining six saves.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Meuqon on Wednesday (Sept. 17) for a match against Concordia University Wisconsin.
