Elliotts Lead Titans Past 22nd-Ranked Spartans

Sisters Robyn and Rachel Elliott both scored their first goals of the season to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over 22nd-ranked University of Dubuque on Saturday (Sept. 13) in Dubuque, Iowa.

The University of Dubuque (6-1) dominated the first 25 minutes of play by attempting all five shots and all three corner kicks. But, Robyn Elliott managed to find a hole in the Spartan defense during the game's 27th minute (26:29) to put UW-Oshkosh ahead, 1-0. Elliott's goal, which followed a pass from Christina Mauthe, came on the Titans' first shot of the match.

Following four straight University of Dubuque shots to open the second half, UW-Oshkosh (3-2) doubled its lead on Rachel Elliott's goal in the contest's 62nd minute (61:33). Elliott's kick was a high shot that went in and out of the hands of University of Dubuque goalkeeper Tiffany Duncan.

UW-Oshkosh held on for the victory with two saves by goalkeeper Nina Muzi in the game's final 20 minutes. Muzi stopped six shots in all to record her second shutout of the season. Duncan tallied three saves for the University of Dubuque.

UW-Oshkosh, which hasn't allowed a goal in regulation play this season, was held to seven shots and two corner kicks. The Elliotts and Katelyn Fladten led UW-Oshkosh with two shots apiece.

The University of Dubuque, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, totaled 16 shots and four corner kicks. Kate Lynn attempted six shots for the Spartans, including three on goal.

UW-Oshkosh remains in Iowa to play Wartburg College on Sunday (Sept. 14) in Waverly.
