Titans Raise WIAC Record To 6-1

UW-Oshkosh won its seventh straight women's soccer match with a 2-0 triumph over UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Oct. 19) in La Crosse. The winning streak is the Titans' longest since 2001.

UW-Oshkosh (10-5-1/6-1 WIAC) scored once in each half, including Amanda Baalke's goal during the 16th minute (15:54) of play. Baalke kicked a loose ball into the net following a corner kick from Megan White.

White, with an assist from Baalke, gave the Titans a 2-0 lead early in the second period. White's kick from close range occurred during the game's 55th minute.

The match featured 18 shots by UW-La Crosse and 17 by UW-Oshkosh. Kara Bednarek had five shots and Laura Sauer three for the Eagles (3-9-1/1-4-1 WIAC), while Baalke, White and Chelsea Kierszh attempted three shots each for the Titans. UW-Oshkosh earned nine of the game's 12 corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Berkopec saved six shots for her seventh shutout of the season. She has recorded a shutout in five of the Titans' six WIAC victories.

UW-La Crosse goalkeeper Ashley Tracy ended the match with five saves.

UW-Oshkosh visits the University of Chicago (Ill.) on Wednesday (Oct. 23) before hosting UW-Platteville in its WIAC finale on Saturday (Oct. 26).
