Titans Work For Another 1-0 Victory

UW-Oshkosh won for the fourth time this season by a 1-0 score when it defeated the UW-River Falls women's soccer team on Saturday (Oct. 5) in River Falls.

Ashley Nicholas provided the Titans' margin of victory when she scored on a 25-yard kick during the 38th minute (37:13) of play. Her shot came off a pass from Rachel Elliott.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Berkopec saved three shots, including two in the first half, for her fourth shutout of the season. Rebecca Kramer saved five shots for UW-River Falls, with three of them occurring in the second period.

UW-Oshkosh (6-5-1/3-1 WIAC) totaled 14 shots and earned all seven of the game's corner kicks. The four shots from Robyn Elliott, three from Amanda Baalke and two from Christina Mauthe led the Titans.

UW-River Falls (3-7/0-2 WIAC) compiled nine shots, with only three on goal. Kenzie Weisman had three shots and both Anna Kouba and Alex Swatloski two each for the Falcons.

UW-Oshkosh has won six of its last seven matches to overcome a 0-4-1 start to the 2013 season. Other 1-0 victories for the Titans have been over North Park University (Ill.) on Sept. 14, Wartburg College (Iowa) on Sept. 15 and UW-Stout on Sept. 21.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it visits UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday (Oct. 9).
