Titans Post Second Straight Shutout Victory

UW-Oshkosh won by a 1-0 result for the second consecutive day as it defeated the Wartburg College (Iowa) women's soccer team on Sunday (Sept. 15) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans, who earned a road win over North Park University (Ill.) on Saturday (Sept. 14), tallied their lone goal against Wartburg College on Chelsea Kierszh's five-yard header in the 62nd minute (61:20) of play. Kierszh scored her first goal of the season after picking up a loose ball from a corner kick taken by UW-Oshkosh's Robyn Elliott.

The majority of the game's action came in the second half, where UW-Oshkosh attempted nine of its 12 shots and Wartburg College five of its eight. The Titans owned three of the period's four corner kicks.

Amanda Baalke attempted five shots, including four on goal, to lead UW-Oshkosh (2-4-1). The Titans' shot count also included three from Kierzsh and two from both Christina Mauthe and Megan White.

Wartburg College (2-5-1) was led by the two shots taken from both Ashley Frush and Olivia Jansen.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Berkopec recorded all three of her saves in the second half. Wartburg College's Katie Reinhardt finished the match with seven saves, including four in the second session.

UW-Oshkosh travels to UW-Stout on Saturday (Sept. 14) for the first of its eight WIAC matches.
