Hoffman Named To Academic All-District Team

UW-Oshkosh forward Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha) has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Women's Soccer Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Hoffman, a second team honoree, was joined on the All-District V squad by five other women's soccer players from the WIAC.

Named to the first team were Meredith DeCaluwe of UW-Stevens Point and Mary Donohoo of UW-Whitewater. Voted to the third team were Abby Ofstedahl, Liz Kooistra and Anna Talbot of UW-Eau Claire. The All-District V team is comprised of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota.

DeCaluwe and Donohoo will now advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team will be announced on Nov. 20.

Hoffman started 16 of the 18 matches that she played in for UW-Oshkosh this past season and totaled six goals and two assists for 14 points. She led the Titans in points and shared the team lead in goals. Hoffman scored three goals in UW-Oshkosh's 8-0 victory over Lawrence University on Oct. 22.

Hoffman played in 81 of UW-Oshkosh's 82 matches the past four seasons. She helped the Titans to a 49-26-7 record by compiling 26 goals and 18 assists for 70 points. Hoffman's career point total, which includes nine match-winning goals, ranks second in UW-Oshkosh history.

In 2006, Hoffman received NCAA Division III All-Central Region third team accolades by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America after totaling nine goals and five assists for 23 points. In 2005, she registered five goals and five assists for 15 points. Hoffman recorded six goals and six assists for 18 points in 2004.

Hoffman owns a 3.83 cumulative grade point average as an English major.

UW-Oshkosh finished the 2007 season with a 9-9-1 record, including a 8-3-1 mark over the final 12 matches. The Titans placed fifth in the WIAC standings with a 4-3-1 record.

All-WIAC Honors Go To Three Titans

UW-Oshkosh earned three selections on the 2007 All-WIAC women's soccer team.

Named to the 22-member squad by the league's nine head coaches were UW-Oshkosh's Caitlin Casey (Fr. • Waukesha), Jenny Drott (Jr. • Mukwonago) and Dana Gudel (Sr. • Middleton).

Casey, a midfielder, was one of only two freshmen voted to the all-league team. She started 17 of the 18 matches that she played in this past season and tallied three goals and two assists for eight points. Casey had two match-winning goals, including the decisive score in UW-Oshkosh's 1-0 overtime victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Oct. 17. Her offensive performance helped the Titans lead the WIAC in corner kicks.

Drott, a defender, started all 19 of UW-Oshkosh's matches this past year and counted one goal and one assist for three points. Her lone goal came during the Titans' 2-1 loss to Carroll College on Sept. 2. Drott anchored a defense that recorded six shutouts, including three in UW-Oshkosh's last five contests. She has played in 58 matches for the Titans the past three years, totaling four goals and one assist for nine points.

Gudel, a midfielder who received All-WIAC honors in 2006, started all 16 games that she played in this past year and compiled five goals for 10 points. She scored three goals, including the match winner, during the Titans' 6-0 victory over UW-Superior on Sept. 29. Gudel totaled nine goals, one assist and 19 points while playing in 77 matches for UW-Oshkosh the past four years.

Other players gaining All-WIAC accolades were Liz Kooistra, Haelee Maurer, Allison Muer, Allie Rivard, Allison Smith, Amy Smith and Anna Talbot of UW-Eau Claire, Amy Cory and Ramsey Weyenberg of UW-La Crosse, Sarah Gengler and Laurie Trifone of UW-Platteville, Tracy Olson and Julie Sperstad of UW-River Falls, Liz Kidd, Amanda Prawat and Kaylee Weise of UW-Stevens Point, Michelle Lizotte of UW-Stout and Becky Cera and Alyssa Spaude of UW-Whitewater. Talbot was named the league's Player of the Year, while DeCaluwe was chosen as the conference's Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

UW-Oshkosh's Amanda Matzke (Jr. • Green Bay) was one of nine players named to the All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team.

UW-Eau Claire's Sean Yengo was named WIAC Coach of the Year for a third straight season.

UW-Oshkosh finished the 2007 season with a 9-9-1 record, including a 8-3-1 mark over the final 12 matches. The Titans placed fifth in the WIAC standings with a 4-3-1 record.

Eagles Slip Past Titans In WIAC Tournament Opener

Ramsey Weyenberg's overtime goal lifted fourth-seeded UW-La Crosse to a 3-2 victory over fifth-seeded UW-Oshkosh in a quarterfinal round contest of the WIAC Women's Soccer Tournament held Tuesday (Oct. 30) in La Crosse.

The victory advances UW-La Crosse (11-5-1) to a semifinal round match against top-seeded UW-Eau Claire (16-1-2) on Friday (Nov. 2) in Eau Claire. UW-Eau Claire qualified for its game with the Eagles by posting a 3-0 win over eighth-seeded UW-Platteville (3-13-5) on Tuesday.

Tuesday's other quarterfinal round results had second-seeded UW-Stevens Point (14-3-1) rout seventh-seeded UW-River Falls (2-14-3), 6-1, and third-seeded UW-Whitewater (12-7-1) oust sixth-seeded UW-Stout (6-12), 3-0. UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater will meet in the semifinal round on Friday in Eau Claire.

The championship match of the WIAC Tournament is scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 3) in Eau Claire. The winner of the WIAC Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

UW-Oshkosh (9-9-1) suffered defeat as Weyenberg scored her matching-winning goal off assists from Amy Cory and Sarah Harrington three minutes, 14 seconds into overtime. The goal was Weyenberg's eighth of the season, including her third against UW-Oshkosh. Weyenberg scored both goals in UW-La Crosse's 2-1 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 20.

UW-La Crosse jumped to a 2-0 lead on goals by Cory at the 21:38 and 31:03 marks of the match. Cory's 11th and 12th goals of the season were assisted by Michaela Kocon and Weyenberg, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh came back to tie the match with two goals in the second half. Erin Rickard (So. • Cedarburg) scored her sixth goal of the year at the 58:17 mark of the contest to cut the Titans' deficit to 2-1. Dana Gudel (Sr. • Middleton) then tied the score with a goal off a corner kick at the 81:07 mark of the game. Gudel's fifth goal of the season was assisted by Rickard.

UW-Oshkosh, which lost for just the third time in 12 matches (8-3-1 record), totaled 24 shots and nine corner kicks. Rickard attempted seven shots to lead the Titans.

UW-La Crosse, which recorded its first WIAC Tournament victory since 1999, compiled 17 shots and seven corner kicks. Cory led the Eagles with nine shots.

Goalkeepers Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) of UW-Oshkosh and Amanda Clark of UW-La Crosse both went the distance and saved six shots.

UW-La Crosse owns a 13-6 advantage in the all-time series with UW-Oshkosh.

Titans To Meet UW-La Crosse In WIAC Tournament Opener

UW-Oshkosh opens play in the WIAC Women's Soccer Tournament on Tuesday (Oct. 30) at UW-La Crosse.

UW-Oshkosh, seeded fifth in the eight-team tournament, enters Tuesday's 2 p.m. match with a 9-8-1 record. The Titans have gone 8-2-1 in their last 11 contests.

UW-La Crosse, which posted a 2-1 win over UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 20, is seeded fifth in the tournament with a 10-5-1 record.

Other quarterfinal round contests on Tuesday have eighth-seeded UW-Platteville (3-12-5) at top-seeded UW-Eau Claire (15-1-2), seventh-seeded UW-River Falls (2-13-3) at second-seeded UW-Stevens Point (13-3-1) and sixth-seeded UW-Stout (6-11) at third-seeded UW-Whitewater (11-7-1).

Tuesday's victors advance to semifinal round action on Friday (Nov. 2) at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Titans Continue Pioneers' Drought

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team scored on only one of its 25 shots, but the success rate was still potent enough as the Titans tallied a 1-0 win over UW-Platteville on Friday (Oct. 26) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Erin Rickard (So. • Cedarburg) provided UW-Oshkosh's margin of victory by scoring an unassisted goal at the 70:49 mark of the contest. It was Rickard's fifth goal of the season, including her second match winner.

UW-Oshkosh's 25 shots featured eight by Rickard, five by Amanda Matzke (Jr. • Green Bay) and three by both Caitlin Casey (Fr. • Waukesha) and Jennifer Nesbitt (Fr. • Sturgeon Bay). The Titans (9-8-1/4-3-1 WIAC) launched nine corner kicks.

UW-Platteville (3-12-5/1-6-1), which is winless in 15 games against UW-Oshkosh, was held to just four shots and one corner kick. Meghan McGivern had two of the Pioneers' four shots.

UW-Oshkosh's shutout was its third in four matches and sixth of the season. UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) made three saves to register her fourth career shutout.

UW-Platteville goalkeeper Laurie Triffone allowed one score and saved 10 shots.

UW-Oshkosh, 8-2-1 in its last 11 matches, visits UW-La Crosse (10-5-1) on Tuesday (Oct. 30) for a quarterfinal round contest of the WIAC Tournament.

Titans Wallop Vikings

Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha) scored three goals for her first career hat trick as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team thumped Lawrence University, 8-0, on Monday (Oct. 22) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Hoffman, who has a team-leading six goals on the season, gave UW-Oshkosh advantages of 2-0 and 4-0 with goals at the 15:06 and 45:58 marks of the match, respectively. She then put the Titans ahead 5-0 by scoring on an assisted goal by Amanda Matzke (Jr. • Green Bay) at the 55:01 mark of the contest. Hoffman totaled her 70th career point in the game to move into second place on UW-Oshkosh's all-time scoring list.

UW-Oshkosh (8-8-1) opened its scoring parade on Matzke's third goal of the season just 8:48 into play. The Titans went in front 3-0 when Erin Rickard (So. • Cedarburg) took a pass from Mindy Vinje (Sr. • Madison) and scored her fourth goal of the year at the 32:02 mark of the match.

The Titans closed their scoring with two goals by Katlyn Goggins (So. • Cedarburg) and one by Steffanie Nagan (Fr. • Kaukauna). Nagan gave UW-Oshkosh a 6-0 lead when she scored her first collegiate goal at the 63:46 mark of the match. Goggins recorded the Titans' seventh and eighth goals of the match by scoring on assists by Melissa Perrin (Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada) at the 67:17 and 68:10 marks. respectively. The goals were Goggins' first and second of the season.

UW-Oshkosh outshot Lawrence University, 35-4, including 20-1 in the first half. The Titans held the Vikings (4-9-1) to just one shot in the first 81 minutes of play. UW-Oshkosh had a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) made two saves to register her third shutout of the season.

Lawrence University had two players guard its goal as Lindsey Allen participated in 59:58 of the contest and Gretchen Shaffer 30:02. Allen allowed five goals and made nine saves, while Shaffer yielded three goals and made five saves.

The fourth straight shutout of Lawrence University gives UW-Oshkosh a 10-2 advantage in the all-time series.

Eagles Knock Off Titans

Ramsey Weyenberg provided all of the offense as the UW-La Crosse women’s soccer team pulled out a 2-1 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday (Oct. 20) in La Crosse.

Weyenberg gave UW-La Crosse (9-5-1/4-3 WIAC) a 1-0 lead when she scored at the 25:06 mark of the match. Amy Cory assisted on the goal.

UW-La Crosse controlled the contest until UW-Oshkosh’s Lindsay Hanson (Fr. • Wauwatosa) tied the score with an unassisted goal at the 65:47 mark of the game. The goal was Hanson’s second of the season.

UW-La Crosse answered back 57 seconds later as Weyenberg scored her second goal of the match and seventh of the season on an assist by Erin Wilson.

UW-La Crosse outshot UW-Oshkosh, 13-11. Weyenberg led the Eagles with five shots, while Amanda Matzke (Jr. • Green Bay) paced the Titans (7-9-1/3-3-1 WIAC) with four. UW-Oshkosh also received two shots each from Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha) and Erin Rickard (So. • Cedarburg).

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) allowed two goals and made five saves, while UW-La Crosse goalkeeper Amanda Clark yielded one goal and tallied three saves. Both teams had a defender record a save.

UW-La Crosse defeated UW-Oshkosh for just the second time in eight matches, but the Eagles still lead the all-time series by a 12-6 listing.

Titans Clip Falcons In Overtime

Caitlin Casey (Fr. • Waukesha) scored the winning goal two minutes into overtime to lift the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Wednesday (Oct. 17) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (7-7-1) put pressure on Concordia University Wisconsin (6-8-1) throughout regulation as it fired 23 shots, including 11 on goal. In overtime, the Titans' first shot hit the target as Casey scored an unassisted goal at the 91:42 mark of the contest. The goal was Casey's third of the year.

UW-Oshkosh's 24 shots included six by Erin Rickard (So. • Cedarburg) and three by both Dana Gudel (Sr. • Middleton) and Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha). The Titans launched eight corner kicks.

Concordia University Wisconsin, which had its five-match winning streak snapped, attempted six shots and one corner kick. Becky Ott and Jaclyn Ventimiglia had two shots each for the Falcons.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) made one save to record her second shutout of the season. Concordia University Wisconsin goalkeeper Mary Ryan allowed one goal while counting 11 saves.

After starting the 2007 season with a 1-6 record, UW-Oshkosh has gone 6-1-1 in its last eight matches. The Titans have won all seven of their meetings with the Falcons.

Titans, Nationally Ranked Blugolds Play To Tie

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie after coming within four minutes of upsetting two-time defending WIAC champion and nationally-ranked UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 13) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (6-7-1/3-2-1 WIAC) grabbed the early lead on UW-Eau Claire (11-1-2/4-0-1 WIAC) as Amanda Matzke (Jr. • Green Bay) delivered a successful penalty kick just 9:51 into play. The goal was Matzke's second of the season.

UW-Oshkosh held its advantage until UW-Eau Claire's Amy Smith took a pass from Haelee Maurer and scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season with only 3:53 left in the second half.

Neither team scored in overtime as UW-Eau Claire attempted two shots and UW-Oshkosh one. The Blugolds finished the contest with 15 shots, including four by Liz Kooistra, and seven corner kicks. The Titans ended the game with 10 shots, including three by Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha), and three corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) allowed one goal and made eight saves. The Titans, who are 5-1-1 in their last seven matches, also had a defender earn a save.

UW-Eau Claire goalkeeper Allie Rivard allowed one goal while blocking six shots.

UW-Eau Claire entered the contest ranked sixth in the NCAA Division III by D3Kicks.com and eighth by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Titans Dominate Oles

Erin Rickard's (So. • Cedarburg) hat trick helped the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over St. Olaf College (Minn.) on Sunday (Oct. 7) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Rickard, who tallied her first goals of the 2007 season, scored twice early in the first half and completed the hat trick with a score midway through the second.

Rickard put UW-Oshkosh ahead 2-0 with assisted goals by Caitlin Casey (Fr. • Waukesha) and Jennifer Nesbitt (Fr. • Sturgeon Bay) at the 14:04 and 17:39 marks of the match, respectively. She gave the Titans a 4-0 lead with an unassisted goal at the 63:22 mark of the contest.

UW-Oshkosh's scoring parade also included goals by Bailey Williams (So. • Omro), Torri Hoffman (Fr. • Phillips) and Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha).

Williams gave UW-Oshkosh a 3-0 lead with an unassisted goal at the 23:33 mark of the game. Torri Hoffman extended the Titans' advantage to 5-0 with an unassisted goal at the 79:12 mark of the match. The goals were the fifth of the season for Williams and the third for Torri Hoffman. Maggie Hoffman created the final result by taking a pass from Lindsay Hanson (Fr. • Wauwatosa) and scoring her third goal of the year at the 83:11 mark of the contest.

UW-Oshkosh (6-7) had advantages of 17-8 in shots and 4-1 in corner kicks. Rickard led the Titans with four shots, while Jess Magnuson paced the Oles (2-9-1) with four.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) and Andrea Kalis (Fr. • Lewiston, Minn.) combined for the shutout. Neve blocked four shots and Kalis two to preserve the Titans' third victory in four meetings with the Oles.

St. Olaf College goalkeeper Samantha Schmidt allowed six goals and made seven saves.

Titans Net Falcons

The UW-Oshkosh women’s soccer team scored two first-half goals en route to a 3-1 victory over UW-River Falls on Saturday (Oct. 6) in River Falls.

Dana Gudel (Sr. • Middleton) registered her fourth goal of the season at the 13:52 mark of the match to give UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead. Her unassisted goal came on a kick from 40 yards out.

UW-Oshkosh (5-7/3-2 WIAC) extended its lead to 2-0 when Caitlin Casey (Fr. • Waukesha) scored an unassisted goal at the 29:15 mark of the contest. The goal was Casey’s second goal of the year.

The Titans pushed their advantage to 3-0 on Lindsay Hanson’s (Fr. • Wauwatosa) first collegiate goal at the 71:18 mark of the game. Hanson’s goal from 10 yards out was assisted by Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha).

UW-River Falls (2-8-2/1-2-1 WIAC) avoided the shutout when Dianna Hermes scored an unassisted goal at the 77:21 mark of the match.

UW-Oshkosh bombarded UW-River Falls with 24 shots and eight corner kicks. Hanson and Amanda Matzke (Jr. • Green Bay) fired four shots each to lead the Titans.

UW-River Falls attempted 18 shots and just one corner kick. Hermes led the Falcons with nine shots, while Kelly Piersak and Jaclyn Rehmke each had two.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) went the distance, allowing one goal and saving 11 shots. UW-River Falls split its goalkeeping duties between Emily Stieler and Andrea Dudley. Stieler played the first half and allowed two goals while blocking nine shots, while Dudley played the second half and yielded one goal while halting three shots.

The win for UW-Oshkosh was its third straight over UW-River Falls. The Falcons lead the all-time series between the two teams by a 9-7-1 count.

Pointers' Scoring Duo To Much For Titans

Amanda Prawat and Kaylee Weise provided all of the scoring as UW-Stevens Point defeated UW-Oshkosh, 5-1, in a women's soccer match held Wednesday (Oct. 3) in Stevens Point.

Prawat tallied two of her three goals in the first half to help UW-Stevens Point (8-2-1/4-0 WIAC) take a 3-0 lead to intermission. Weise guaranteed the Pointers' sixth consecutive victory by counting one goal in each period. The two players have combined for 17 of UW-Stevens Point's 22 goals this season, with Prawat counting nine and Weise eight.

Prawat and Weise assisted each other on early goals. Prawat scored 12:16 into play when Weise sent a long pass downfield that Prawat chased down and sent into the bottom corner of the net. Prawat fed Weise 10 minutes later with a throw-in that Weise collected and chipped into the goal for a 2-0 UW-Stevens Point advantage.

Prawat increased the Pointers' lead to 3-0 when she hunted down a long pass from Liz Kidd and scored on a breakaway at the 30:55 mark of the match.

UW-Oshkosh (4-7/2-2 WIAC), which had its three-game winning streak snapped, registered its only goal at the 52:09 mark of the contest. The Titans scored when Caitlin Casey (Fr. • Waukesha) intercepted an errant UW-Stevens Point pass and drilled a 25-yard shot into the net for her first collegiate goal.

UW-Stevens Point bounced back 18 seconds later when Katie Waterman lofted a long pass that Prawat snatched and drilled into the net for a 4-1 lead. Just 1:34 later, Weise tipped in a goal when Emily Walsh headed a ball at the top of the penalty box past the defenders.

UW-Stevens Point outshot UW-Oshkosh, 14-9, and posted a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Pointers, who improved to 15-2-1 against the Titans, fired nine of their 14 shots in the first half.

Both goalkeepers went the distance as UW-Oshkosh's Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) saved seven shots and UW-Stevens Point's Meredith DeCaluwe two.

Titans Mangle Yellowjackets

Dan Gudel (Sr. • Middleton) scored three goals and Bailey Williams (So. • Omro) two as the UW-Oshkosh women’s soccer team clobbered UW-Superior, 6-0, on Saturday (Sept. 29) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Gudel, who entered the contest without a goal on the season, gave UW-Oshkosh a quick 1-0 lead when she took a pass from Williams and scored just 3:51 into play. Gudel also scored unassisted goals at the 33:48 and 49:27 marks of the contest, with the latter goal giving the Titans a 4-0 advantage.

Williams put UW-Oshkosh (4-6/2-1 WIAC) ahead 2-0 when she scored an unassisted goal at the 29:10 mark of the match. Williams then gave the Titans a 5-0 lead when she headed a pass from Amanda Matzke (Jr. • Green Bay) into the net at the 52:33 mark of the game. The goals were Williams’ third and fourth of the season.

Torri Hoffman (Fr. • Phillips) tallied the last goal for UW-Oshkosh at the 87:12 mark of the match. Credited with an assist on Hoffman’s second goal of the season was Rebecca Dyreson (Fr. • Stoughton).

UW-Oshkosh outshot UW-Superior (4-3-1/0-2 WIAC), 24-3, including 11-1 in the second half. Gudel fired six shots to lead the Titans, while Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha) attempted five and Williams four. UW-Oshkosh, which has won three straight matches after suffering six consecutive losses, had a 15-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Combining for the shutout were UW-Oshkosh goalkeepers Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) and Andrea Kalis (Fr. • Lewiston, Minn.). Neve played the first half and saved two shots, while Kalis played the second half and saved one. UW-Superior goalkeeper Emily Cochran allowed six goals and recorded nine saves.

UW-Oshkosh has outscored UW-Superior, 94-7, to win all 15 of its matches with the Yellowjackets.

Titans Slip Past Vikings

Amanda Matzke (Jr. • Green Bay) and Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha) scored goals 20 seconds apart early in the second half to spark the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over North Park University (Ill.) on Tuesday (Sept. 25) in Chicago, Ill.

North Park University (0-7-2) jumped to a 1-0 lead when Amanda Wellden scored off an assist from Christy Johnson at the 18:37 mark of the match.

UW-Oshkosh (3-6) created a 1-1 tie when Matzke took a pass from Hoffman and scored her first goal of the season at the 52:20 mark of the contest.

The deadlock lasted only 20 seconds as Hoffman scored on a breakaway to give UW-Oshkosh a 2-1 lead. The goal was Hoffman's second of the season.

UW-Oshkosh had advantages of 19-9 in shots and 7-3 in corner kicks over North Park University. Matzke had five shots and Hoffman four to lead the Titans, while Johnson had three shots and Wallden and Alyssa Jacobson two each to pace the Vikings.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) allowed one goal and blocked two shots, while North Park University goalkeeper Gina Kuffel yielded two goals and denied eight shots.

Tuesday's match was the second between the two teams. UW-Oshkosh won last year's contest by a 7-0 score.

Titans Blank Blue Devils

Torri Hoffman (Fr. • Phillips) broke a scoreless tie with an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute of play as the UW-Oshkosh women’s soccer team edged UW-Stout, 1-0, on Saturday (Sept. 22) in Menomonie.

Hoffman’s first collegiate goal came after she dribbled through a big lane of traffic and scored at the 71:59 mark of the match.

UW-Oshkosh (2-6/1-1 WIAC), which snapped a school-record six-match losing streak with the victory, attacked the goal with 12 shots and eight corner kicks. Caitlin Casey (Fr. • Waukesha) fired three shots to lead the Titans, while Hoffman and Bailey Williams (So. • Omro) discharged two each.

Seven UW-Stout players combined to get 11 shots off, including three by Kelsey Keimig and two by both Michelle Hahn and Katie Ness. The Blue Devils (2-6/1-1 WIAC) booted one corner kick.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) stopped seven shots as the Titans improved to 10-0-3 in their last 13 meetings with UW-Stout. UW-Oshkosh leads the all-time series with UW-Stout by a 12-2-4 count.

UW-Stout goalkeeper Jessica Halvorson blocked seven shots, but allowed the lone goal of the match.

Warhawks Clip Titans In WIAC Opener

Becky Cera scored in the 63rd minute of play to lead the UW-Whitewater women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday (Sept. 19) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The contest was UW-Oshkosh's WIAC opener.

Cera gave the Warhawks their margin of victory by taking a pass from Laken Jacobson and scoring at the 62:12 mark of the match. The goal was Cera's third of the season.

UW-Oshkosh (1-6/0-1 WIAC) appeared to have tied the contest with 10:20 to play, but an offside call negated a goal by the Titans' Torri Hoffman (Fr. • Phillips).

UW-Oshkosh fired 17 shots, including six by Erin Rickard (So. • Cedarburg) and three by both Jessica Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha) and Bailey Williams (So. • Omro). The Titans had three corner kicks.

UW-Whitewater (6-2/1-1 WIAC) launched nine shots, including three by Holly U'Ren and two by Cera. The Warhawks had two corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) registered seven saves, including five in the second half. UW-Whitewater goalkeeper Amy Bailey notched seven saves, including four in the second half, to post the shutout victory.

UW-Whitewater's victory snapped a seven-match losing streak to UW-Oshkosh. The Titans lead the all-time series with the Warhawks by an 11-4-2 tally.

11th-Ranked Bears Wound Titans

The nationally-ranked Washington University (Mo.) women's soccer team extended its regular-season winning streak to 20 matches with a 4-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday (Sept. 15) in Dubuque, Iowa.

Washington University (6-0), ranked 11th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, got things going early against UW-Oshkosh with goals from Caitlin Malone and Becca Heymann in the first 20 minutes of play.

Malone headed home a cross from Libby Held to give the Bears a 1-0 lead at the 16:32 mark of the match. Heymann put Washington University ahead 2-0 on an assisted goal from Lauren Mehner at the 19:02 mark of the game.

Washington University extended its lead to 3-0 on Marin McCarthy's goal at the 48:49 mark of the contest. Assisting on McCarthy's goal were Malone and Abbey Hartmann. Caryn Rosoff tallied an unassisted goal with 51 seconds left in the match to round out the scoring for the Bears.

UW-Oshkosh (1-5) took 12 shots, including two each by Jessica Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha), Erin Rickard (So. • Cedarburg) and Bailey Williams (So. • Omro). The Titans had three corner kicks.

Washington University, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, fired 27 shots and launched six corner kicks. Rosoff, Therese Fox and Shirey Lane took four shots each for the Bears.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) halted 14 shots during her 90 minutes of duty.

Washington University goalkeeper Carrie Sear played the first 61 minutes in the goal and recorded three saves. Rachel Atkins saw goalkeeping action in the final 29 minutes of play and blocked three shots.

Duhawks Nip Titans

Loras College (Iowa) scored twice within a seven-minute span of the second half to record a 2-1 victory over UW-Oshkosh in a women's soccer match held Friday (Sept. 14) in Dubuque, Iowa.

Following a silent first half, Loras College (3-3) grabbed a 1-0 lead when Maria Prendergast took a pass from Morgan Spencer and scored at the 55:10 mark of the match. The Duhawks jumped ahead 2-0 when Spencer received a serve from Prendergast and scored at the 61:19 mark of the game.

UW-Oshkosh (1-4) sliced its deficit in half on Jennifer Nesbitt's (Fr. • Sturgeon Bay) unassisted goal at the 64:06 mark of the contest. It was the first collegiate goal for Nesbitt.

UW-Oshkosh took 10 shots in the first half and nine in the second. Dana Gudel (Sr. • Middleton), Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha) and Bailey Williams (So. • Omro) each fired four shots to pace the Titans. UW-Oshkosh launched two corner kicks.

Loras College dispatched five shots in the first half and seven in the second. Prendergast and Holly Wilson led the Duhawks with three shots each. Loras College owned three corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) saved five shots during her 90 minutes of action.

Loras College goalkeeper Torey Murray stopped six shots to record the complete-game victory.

Friday's match was the second between the two teams, with the first being a 1-0 Loras College victory in the first round of last year's NCAA Division III Championship.

Panthers Shutout Titans

An early goal provided the game's only scoring as the Chapman University (Calif.) women's soccer team defeated UW-Oshkosh, 1-0, on Sunday (Sept. 9) in Orange, Calif.

Claire Callister tallied the Panthers' winning goal when she took a kicked ball from goalkeeper Madison Coffin and punched it into the net just 9:05 into play. Callister's goal was her third in as many games, including her second straight match winner.

UW-Oshkosh (1-3) out-shot Chapman University (3-1-1) by counts of 5-2 in the first half and 8-2 in the second. Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha) fired four shots for the Titans, while Dana Gudel (Sr. • Middleton) launched three and Lindsay Hanson (Fr. • Wauwatosa) two. Mia Pierro had two of the Panthers' four shots.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Emily Krause (Fr. • Grafton) played all 90 minutes and recorded one save.

Chapman University, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, had Coffin and Emily Clark guard its goal. Coffin played 88:25 of the match and registered all four saves for the Panthers.

The shutout victory was Chapman University's third in as many matches.

Sagehens Silence Titans

Angie Martinez netted one goal and one assist as Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) posted a 3-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh in a women's soccer match held Friday (Sept. 7) in Claremont, Calif.

Martinez gave Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (2-0) an early 1-0 lead when she took a pass from Jane Phillips and scored just 3:04 into play. Martinez was credited with an assist on the Sagehens' third goal, a score by Jenny Collins at the 50:08 mark of the contest.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, pushed its lead to 2-0 when Kaitlin Swartz scored an unassisted goal at the 48:53 mark of the match.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges fired 18 shots, including three by both Collins and Kimber Lopez. UW-Oshkosh launched only five shots, with two of them belonging to Maggie Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha).

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Laura Neve (Fr. • Waukesha) played the entire game and tallied eight saves. Pomona-Pitzer Colleges had two players guard the goal as Caroline Flynn competed in 79 minutes of the match and Caroline Flynn 11. Both goalkeepers for the Sagehens recorded one save.

The match was UW-Oshkosh's first played in the state of California.

Pioneers Edge Titans On Second-Half Goals

Megan Blenner and Kari Scheelk scored second-half goals to lead the Carroll College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Sunday (Sept. 2) in Waukesha.

UW-Oshkosh, which won its two previous meetings with Carroll College, grabbed a 1-0 lead on Jenny Drott's (Jr. • Mukwonago) penalty kick at the 12:50 mark of the game.

The Titans stayed in front of the Pioneers until Blenner took a pass from Scheelk and slotted the ball into the lower right corner of the goal at the 65:07 mark of the match.

Scheelk then scored the winning goal for Carroll College as she headed Trisha Konkol's corner kick into the net at the 75:02 mark of the contest.

UW-Oshkosh (1-1) totaled 10 shots and two corner kicks in the match, while Carroll College (2-0) tallied 14 shots and four corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Emily Krause (Fr. • Grafton) allowed both goals and stopped three shots. Carroll College goalkeeper Ashlee Reinke surrendered one goal and halted five shots.

Titans Rally To Win Season Opener

Bailey Williams (So. • Omro) scored two goals, including the match winner with 2:44 to play, as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team rallied to edge St. Norbert College, 4-3, on Saturday (Sept. 1) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh, which won its season opener for the fourth time in five years, erased a 3-1 halftime deficit with three goals in the second period. In addition to Williams' decisive goal, the Titans also received second-half scoring strikes from twin sisters Maggie and Jessica Hoffman (Sr. • Waukesha).

UW-Oshkosh (1-0) pulled to within 3-2 on Maggie Hoffman's unassisted goal at the 48:51 mark of the contest. She now has 21 career goals, the fourth-highest total in UW-Oshkosh history.

The Titans created a 3-3 tie when Jessica Hoffman took a pass from Jenny Drott (Jr. • Mukwonago) and scored at the 79:46 mark of the match. UW-Oshkosh tallied its winning goal eight minutes later as Williams scored off a serve from Torri Hoffman (Fr. • Phillips).

Williams' first goal of the match gave UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead. She scored off a pass from Caitlin Casey (Fr. • Waukesha) just 9:21 into the contest.

St. Norbert College (0-1) then scored three goals within a span of six minutes to take a 3-1 lead to intermission.

The Green Knights forced a 1-1 tie when Jessica Schadrie inherited a pass from Rachelle Barina and scored at the 11:09 mark of the contest. It took St. Norbert College just 44 seconds to go in front as Jenni Jacobsen scored on a serve from Ann Maki. The Green Knights extended their advantage to 3-1 on Maki's penalty kick at the 16:55 mark of the game.

UW-Oshkosh blasted 30 shots, including 20 in the first half, and six corner kicks. St. Norbert College fired 12 shots and one corner kick.

UW-Oshkosh's Emily Krause (Fr. • Grafton) allowed three goals and recorded seven saves to earn her first goalkeeping victory. St. Norbert College split its goalkeeping duties between Mallory Ford and Cara Tazioli. Ford allowed one goal and made eight saves while Tazioli yielded three goals and halted 10 shots.
