Titans Ousted By Nationally Ranked Cardinals

Jordan Blanchard recorded UW-Oshkosh's fastest pin of the season during the Titans' 32-9 wrestling loss to nationally ranked North Central College (Ill.) on Thursday (Dec. 12) in Naperville, Ill.

Blanchard, competing at 174 pounds, stuck the Cardinals' Brock Montford to the mat in 16 seconds for his team-leading 10th pin of the year. Blanchard's victory cut UW-Oshkosh's deficit in the match to 25-6.

UW-Oshkosh (1-3) then closed the contest three bouts later with Jordan Lemcke's 10-6 victory over Jason Nako at 285 pounds.

North Central College, ranked 10th in the NCAA Division III by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, won the other eight bouts in the match, including Anthony Rink's pin of Brandon Lenczner in 6:17 at 149 pounds.

The Cardinals (4-0) opened the contest with six straight victories. Enzo Silva started things off for North Central College with his 4-3 win over Denis Murphy at 125 pounds.

Robbie Precin then defeated UW-Oshkosh's AJ Schoenfuss, 12-2, at 133 pounds before Marc Fleenor ousted the Titans' Eli Mondrella, 15-4, at 141.

Rink followed with his pin of Lenczner to give the Cardinals a 17-0 lead.

North Central College concluded its string of victories with Cole Cervantes' 2-0 victory over Keagan Lazar at 157 pounds and Jacob Boumans' 17-0 (6:47) win over Muzi Sitshela at 165.

Sandwiched between Blanchard's pin and Lemcke's victory were wins by North Central College's Cody Baldridge at 184 pounds and Ben Bergen at 197. Baldridge defeated John DePersia, 12-3, while Bergen edged Colten Cashmore, 2-0.

UW-Oshkosh remains on the road by wrestling four matches at Saturday's (Dec. 14) Kalahari Duals in Sandusky, Ohio. The Titans will compete in dual meets against Michigan's Olivet College before competing against Ohio's University of Mount Union, Heidelberg University and Baldwin Wallace University.
