USA Wrestling Tournaments To Include One Current, One Former Titan

Current UW-Oshkosh wrestler Beau Yineman and former Titan Nazar Kulchytskyy will compete in national tournaments sponsored by USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling, this weekend in Raleigh, N.C.

Yineman, who recently finished his freshman season at UW-Oshkosh, will wrestle in the 86kg division of the UWW Junior World Team Trials. Champions in each of the 10 freestyle weight classes for wrestlers aged 17-20 will represent the United States at the 2019 Junior World Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, from Aug. 12-18. Expected in the field are many of the nation's top college underclassmen and high school wrestlers.

Kulchytskyy, a three-time NCAA Division III champion who competed for UW-Oshkosh from 2011-14, will wrestle in the 70kg freestyle category of the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. The tournament, which aids the selection process for the 2019 U.S. Senior World Team and 2020 U.S. Olympic Team, is the final qualifier for Final X. Winners in each of the 10 weight classes in Raleigh will advance to one of two Final X events – June 8 at Rutgers University (N.J.) or June 15 at the University of Nebraska. The winner of each weight class at the Final X will represent the United States at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, from Sept. 14-22.

Competition in Raleigh will be held Friday (May 17) through Sunday (May 19) at North Carolina State University's Reynolds Coliseum. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday (May 18) and 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Yineman concluded his first season with the Titans by finishing second at the WIAC Championship and fourth at the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional in the 197-pound weight class. The Neenah High School graduate compiled a 29-4 record during the 2018-19 season with five pins.

Yineman qualified for this weekend's tournament by finishing fifth at the 2018 USMC/USAW Cadet & Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

Kulchytskyy trains at the Minnesota Storm Regional Training Center in Minneapolis. The Prairie du Chien High School graduate placed second at the 2018 World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in Rochester, Minn., to earn a spot on last year's National Team.

Kulchytskyy tallied a 142-5 record (67 pins) during his four seasons with the Titans, including a 41-2 mark (21 pins) in 2014. UW-Oshkosh's all-time victory leader captured NCAA Division III titles at 157 pounds in 2012 and 2014 and 165 pounds in 2013. The three-time WIAC Wrestler of the Year was voted the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship.

Both the UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials and the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament will be broadcast live by FloWrestling.
