Titans Put Raiders Away Early

Corey Knudsen and Jordan Lemcke recorded pins while Zach McDowell won by a technical fall during UW-Oshkosh's 31-12 wrestling victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday (Jan. 17) in Milwaukee.

UW-Oshkosh (6-5) took control of the Raiders (0-4) early as it scored the first 11 points of the match. The Titans tallied their points on a forfeit victory to Jaylin Johnson at 125 pounds and McDowell's 18-2 rout of Gianni Rago at 133.

The teams alternated wins during the next five bouts as Milwaukee School of Engineering's Preston Makoutz started the stretch of results with his 8-6 sudden victory over Kobe Allen at 141 pounds.

Knudsen then pinned Jimmy Cushman in 2:10 at 149 pounds before the Raiders' Jack Rathburn edged Muzi Sitshela, 5-3, at 157 to make the score 17-6.

UW-Oshkosh extended its lead to 21-6 when Mark Choinski trounced Sam Rathburn, 16-2. The victory kept Choinski unbeaten in 19 matches this season.

Milwaukee School of Engineering answered Choinski's triumph with back-to-back wins by Drew Matticks at 174 pounds and Helton Vandenbush at 184 to slice its deficit to 21-12. Matticks defeated Husam Alabed, 7-4, while Vandenbush ousted Bryce Herlache, 5-1.

UW-Oshkosh won the contest's final two bouts on victories by Beau Yineman at 197 pounds and Lemcke at 285. Yineman improved his season record to 22-1 with an 11-1 decision over Ryan Snyder while Lemcke glued Miro Stojanovic to the mat in 3:14. The pin was UW-Oshkosh's 75th of the season, including the eighth by Lemcke.

The Titans are off until they host Lakeland University on Tuesday (Jan. 22) in Kolf Sports Center.
