Titans Defeat Raiders, Lose To Spartans In Iowa

Colten Cashmore, Damien McCray and Anthony Senthavisouk won both their contests as UW-Oshkosh split a pair of wrestling matches on Saturday (Jan. 6) in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Titans (2-6) opened with a 35-11 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering before suffering a 27-9 loss to host University of Dubuque.

UW-Oshkosh never trailed as it jumped to a 17-3 lead over Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Raiders pulled within 20-11, but the Titans closed the match with 15 unanswered points.

Jordan Lemcke and Senthavisouk had pins for the Titans against the Raiders while McCray and Ben Kitslaar won by forfeits at 125 and 285 pounds, respectively.

Lemcke, competing at 197 pounds, stuck Duncan Heath to the mat in 4:30 while the 141-pound Senthavisouk glued Jimmy Cushman to the surface in 2:11.

Wesam Alabed earned five points for the Titans with his 20-5 victory over Sam Rathburn at 149 pounds.

Cashmore and UW-Oshkosh teammate Mark Choinski both won by 9-2 results as Cashmore defeated Ryan Snyder at 184 pounds while Choinski ousted Drew Matticks at 165.

Against the University of Dubuque, UW-Oshkosh led 3-0 and 6-3 before the Spartans scored 16 straight points to take a 19-6 advantage. The University of Dubuque tallied the final eight points of the match.

McCray gave the Titans an early 3-0 lead with his 9-4 victory over Caleb Poche at 125 pounds.

Following a Spartan win at 133 pounds, Senthavisouk helped UW-Oshkosh reclaim a 6-3 lead with his 6-1 victory over Isaiah Williams at 141 pounds.

The University of Dubuque then rattled off four straight wins before Cashmore edged the Spartans' Chris Nielson with a 10-8 overtime victory at 184 pounds.

UW-Oshkosh lost a pair of two-point decisions to the Spartans, Alabed's 7-5 loss to Kamen Wilmington at 149 pounds and Kitslaar's 5-3 setback to Robert Melise at 285.

UW-Oshkosh hosts defending WIAC champion UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Jan. 13) in Kolf Sports Center.
