Titans To Wrestle At NCAA West Regional

Positions in the national championship will be up for grabs when 10 UW-Oshkosh wrestlers compete at the NCAA Division III West Regional on Saturday (Feb. 28) in Minneapolis, Minn.

Competition begins at 9 a.m. in Augsburg College's Si Melby Hall.

In addition to UW-Oshkosh, wrestlers from Augsburg College, Concordia-Moorhead College (Minn.), Concordia University Wisconsin, Lakeland College, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Pacific University (Ore.), St. John's University (Minn.), St. Olaf College (Minn.), UW-Eau Claire and UW-Platteville will also participate at the meet.

UW-Oshkosh will be represented in this year's regional by Cory Wilson (0-1) at 125 pounds, Jonathan Flores (15-17) at 133, Craig Mason (14-11) at 141, Hunter Mulock (8-13) at 149, Joe Pelkey (3-13) at 157, Brandon Gaynor (1-4) at 165, Michael Berg (1-18) at 174, Korey Kleinhans (19-16) at 184, Alan Dahlke (18-18) at 197 and Matt Veneskey (3-14) at 285. Mason, Mulock, Pelkey and Kleinhans all return to the meet from a year ago.

Augsburg College scored 148 points to capture last year's team title. Concordia-Moorhead College finished second in the 12-team meet with 136.5 points, while St. John's University placed third with 92, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 72.5 and Concordia University Wisconsin fifth with 58.5.

A total of 30 wrestlers, the top three finishers in each weight class, will qualify from the West Regional to the NCAA Division III Championship on March 13-14 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.
