Raiders Pull Away From Titans With Match-Ending Run

The UW-Oshkosh wrestling team won three of the first four matches, but lost the final six contests and the dual meet by a 30-18 score to the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday (Feb. 5) in Milwaukee.

Jonathan Flores gave UW-Oshkosh (1-9) a quick 6-0 lead with his forfeit victory at 133 pounds.

Following a 14-3 win by Milwaukee School of Engineering's Justin Wolfenden over Terrace Davis at 141 pounds, UW-Oshkosh extended its lead to 12-4 on Brendan Gaynor's forfeit victory at 149.

Joe Pelkey, competing at 157 pounds, then earned a pin over Tre House in 4:31 to open up an 18-10 lead for the Titans.

Milwaukee School of Engineering (4-4) began its run of victories with Pete Koostra's pin of Derek Hermanson in 2:48 at 165 pounds.

The Raiders' Garret Gross and Devon McCune followed with wins to make the score 18-17. Gross defeated Michael Berg, 11-5, at 174 pounds while McCune ousted Korey Kleinhans, 15-3, at 184.

Milwaukee School of Engineering took the lead for good (20-18) on Devin Mahnke's 3-2 win over Alan Dahlke at 197 pounds.

Milwaukee School of Engineering sealed its triumph over the Titans by earning 10 team points in the final two matches. After the Raiders' Luis Hernandez defeated Matt Veneskey by a 10-1 score at 285 pounds, Colin Kenyon pinned Cory Wilson in 4:38 at 125.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts the WIAC Championship on Feb. 15 in Kolf Sports Center.
