Dahlke, Kleinhans Place Sixth At Pointer Open

Alan Dahlke and Korey Kleinhans combined for eight of the UW-Oshkosh wrestling team's 12 victories at the Pointer Open held Saturday (Nov. 8) in Stevens Point.

Dahlke finished sixth in the 197-pound weight class with a 3-3 record, including a pin of UW-Oshkosh teammate Jacob Moczynski in 1:15. Dahlke lost his fifth-place match on a pin in 20 seconds to AJ Hannan of St. John's College (Minn.).

Dahlke opened with a 7-5 overtime win over Luis Montoya of Elmhurst College (Ill.). He then lost a 9-5 decision to Jake Reuteler of Concordia University Wisconsin before pinning Moczynski and defeating Kane Seubert of UW-Stevens Point, 3-2. Dahlke lost a 6-0 result to Wes Dodd of Itasca Community College (Minn.) in the consolation semifinal.

Kleinhans placed sixth in the 184-pound weight division with a 5-2 record, including a pin of UW-Eau Claire's Paul Tapia in 2:44. Kleinhans lost his fifth-place contest by an 8-2 score to University of Wisconsin's Nic Veling.

Kleinhans started with a 5-4 win over Aaron Baker of St. John's College and an 11-5 loss to Daniel Olsen of Wheaton College (Ill.). He then pinned Tapia before recording a 6-4 overtime victory over Dominic Gunderson of UW-Stevens Point. Following wins on a forfeit by unattached Justin Sternweis and a medical forfeit by UW-Eau Claire's Matt Rieckhoff, Kleinhans lost on a pin in 1:15 to UW-Stevens Point's Cody Nielsen in the consolation semifinal.

UW-Oshkosh's Emilio Gutierrez went 2-2 during his four matches at 285 pounds. His victories were a pin in 1:54 of Itasca Community College's Seamus Hunter and a 10-1 result over St. John's College's Dino Saracco.

Marking 1-2 records for the Titans were Jonathan Flores at 133 pounds and Dylan Riley at 157. Flores won on an injury default by Elmhurst College's Miguel Venecia, while Riley posted an 8-2 win over St. John's College's Jack Edberg.

Going winless in two matches for UW-Oshkosh were David Leisgang at 141 pounds, Hunter Mulock and Joe Pelkey at 149, Parker Knueppel at 165, Michael Berg at 174 and Moczynski at 197. The Titans' Craig Mason had to withdraw from both of his matches at 141 pounds due to an injury.

No team scores were kept at the meet.

UW-Oshkosh opens its WIAC dual schedule against UW-Eau Claire next Friday (Nov. 14) in Kolf Sports Center.
