Kulchytskyy Repeats As National Wrestler Of The Year

UW-Oshkosh's Nazar Kulchytskyy has been named National Wrestler of the Year for the second consecutive season. The award was presented by D3wrestle.com.

Kulchytskyy earned his third straight national title at the NCAA Division III Championship on March 15. He captured the 157-pound crown with a pin against Coe College's Dimitri Boyer in the final. The victory gave Kulchytskyy a 41-2 record (21 pins) for the season, including an undefeated mark against Division III opponents.

This year, Kulchytskyy won titles at the Pointer Open, MSOE Invitational, Pete Willson Invitational, Blugold Open and NCAA Division III West Regional.

After being voted Most Valuable Wrestler at the West Regional, Kulchytskyy received the NCAA's Most Dominant Wrestler award for the 2013-14 campaign. He averaged 5.21 points per match to lead the nation.

Kulchytskyy finished his career with a 142-5 record that includes 67 pins. UW-Oshkosh's all-time victory leader won the 165-pound national title in 2013 and the 157-pound championship during 2012. Kulchytskyy posted a 12-0 record in 2011 before suffering a season-ending injury.

Bolstered by Kulchytskyy's title, the Titans placed 10th at the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship with 34.5 points. It was UW-Oshkosh's best finish in 32 years.

Kulchytskyy also has been selected as WIAC Wrestler of the Year. He is the first man to win the award three straight seasons.
