Titans Conquer Warriors Behind Sweep Of Individual Victories

Emily Gilot achieved the top listing in four of the five individual categories as UW-Oshkosh closed out its home women's gymnastics schedule with a 182.200-180.550 victory over Winona State University (Minn.) on Friday (Feb. 1) in Kolf Sports Center.

Gilot dominated her challengers by winning competitions in the all-around, balance beam, floor exercise and vault. Her first-place all-around score of 36.825 included victorious marks of 9.40 on the balance beam, 9.55 (season best) in the floor exercise and 9.475 on the vault. Gilot also finished 10th on the uneven bars with a score of 8.40.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining individual victory came on the uneven bars, where Bailee Hardy earned a winning and season-best score of 9.35.

Kaira Hammond and Jessica Bernardo contributed a trio of top-six finishes for the Titans, who entered the meet ranked eighth in the country by the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA).

Hammond finished placed second on both the uneven bars and vault with scores of 9.25 and 9.225, respectively, while finishing fourth on the balance beam with a figure of 9.10.

Bernardo was the runner-up in the all-around competition with 35.725 points. Her overall performance included fifth-place scores of 9.425 in the floor exercise and 8.95 on the balance beam.

The Titans concluded their listings in the floor exercise with the second-place finishes of Bailey Finin and Olivia Keller. Both gymnasts recorded scores of 9.50.

UW-Oshkosh had two other fourth-place performances as Amira Ali tallied a score of 9.15 on the vault and Rahdea Jarvis a grade of 9.025 on the uneven bars.

The Titan's Alyssa Nore supplied a fifth-place score of 8.95 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh reached its overall team amount by counting scores of 47.050 in the floor exercise, 45.750 on the vault, 45.000 on the uneven bars and 44.400 on the balance beam. The Titans' score in the floor exercise was a season high.

Winona State University's overall team sum was reached with scores of 46.600 in the floor exercise, 45.400 on the vault, 44.900 on the balance beam and 43.650 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh competes against defending conference champion UW-La Crosse next Friday (Feb. 8) in La Crosse. The Titans will then remain on the road for four more meets before hosting the NCGA Championship on March 23 in Kolf Sports Center.
