Performance On Balance Beam Leads Titans Past Gusties

UW-Oshkosh used a dominating performance on the balance beam to defeat the Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) women's gymnastics team, 183.425-179.875, on Saturday (Feb. 10) in St. Peter, Minn.

The Titans defeated the Gusties by nearly four points (47.05-43.625) on the balance beam and owned the event's top five finishers, including Baylee Tkaczuk who placed first with a score of 9.60. UW-Oshkosh's Kasandra Stamopoulos finished second on the apparatus with 9.475 points while Dana LoCascio finished third at 9.45, Amanda McBrayer fourth at 9.375 and Amira Ali fifth at 9.15.

Tkaczuk also won the uneven bars category with 9.325 points and finished second among four participants in the all-around competition with a score of 36.75.

Amanda McBrayer had an outstanding meet for UW-Oshkosh by producing winning scores of 9.425 on the vault and 36.85 in the all-around competition. She also finished fourth on both the balance beam and uneven bars with 9.375 and 8.95 points, respectively, and fifth in the floor exercise with 9.10.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining event winner was Bailey Finin, who captured first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.425.

The Titans also received second-place scores of 9.40 on the vault from Ali and 9.075 on the uneven bars from Stamopolous.

UW-Oshkosh's Jessica Bernardo contributed a fourth-place result of 9.20 in the floor exercise.

The Titans reached their overall team score with the help of their 47.05 points on the balance beam and counts of 46.40 on the vault, 45.225 in the floor exercise and 44.75 on the uneven bars.

Gustavus Adolphus College tallied 46.575 points on the vault, 45.675 in the floor exercise, 44.00 on the uneven bars and 43.625 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh hosts defending WIAC and National Collegiate Gymnastics Association champion UW-Whitewater on Friday (Feb. 16) in Kolf Sports Center.
