Titans Place Fifth At NCGA Championship

The UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team placed fifth with a school-record 188.475 points at the NCGA Championship held Friday (March 21) in Ithaca, N.Y.

Two-time defending champion UW-Whitewater captured the team title with 193.025 points, while State University of New York-Cortland finished second with 191.00 and State University of New York-Brockport third with 190.80.

Rounding out the finishes were fourth-place UW-La Crosse with 188.55 points, sixth-place Ursinus College (Pa.) with 186.75 and seventh-place Ithaca College (N.Y.) with 182.30.

UW-Oshkosh's team score featured season-best marks of 48.65 points in the floor exercise, 47.025 on the uneven bars and 46.725 on the balance beam. The Titans, who participated in the team competition for the first time since 2007, also tallied 46.075 points on the vault.

The only individual title determined on Friday was that in the all-around. UW-Whitewater's Katie Fiorilli took first place in the category with 38.75 points, while UW-Stout's Katherine Prouty finished second with 38.55.

UW-Oshkosh's Krystal Walker scored 38.425 points to place third and earn her second All-America award in the all-around competition. Last year, Walker finished fourth with 37.625 points.

Courtney Benson of Hamline University (Minn.) ranked fourth in the all-around competition with 38.05 points and Jade Donaldson of Winona State University (Minn.) fifth with 37.975.

The top 14 finishers from Friday's balance beam, floor exercise, uneven bars and vault competition will participate in the individual finals at 4 p.m. (ET) on Saturday.

UW-Oshkosh had two athletes qualify for the finals in Walker and Leane Blais. Both individuals will participate on the uneven bars, with Walker also performing on the balance beam.
