Priebe Selected As WIAC Golf Athlete Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh's Erika Priebe was named the WIAC Kwik Trip Women's Golf Athlete of the Week for the period of Sept. 2-8.

Priebe established UW-Oshkosh records for both 18 and 36 holes while tying for fourth place in the individual competition at the Wartburg College Invitational held Sept. 7-8 in Waverly, Iowa.

Priebe, who finished 14th with 154 strokes at last year's event, totaled 145 strokes (one-over-par) on this year's Prairie Links Golf Course to share fourth place with Jordan Amelon of St. Catherine University (Minn.).

Priebe's school-record 36-hole score was aided by her five birdies and 25 pars. She tallied 74 strokes for the first 18 holes of the event and a school-record 71 for the second.

Three players tied for first place among the meet's 170 golfers with 142 strokes, including Alyssa Akiyama and Kristin Miyagi from Carleton College (Minn.). Claudia Kim of the University of Thomas (Minn.) was also involved in the tie for the top individual listing.

St. Catherine University won the team title with 602 strokes (26-over-par) while Carleton College placed second with 608 and University of St. Thomas third with 610. UW-Oshkosh finished eighth in the 17-team field with 619 strokes.
