Titans Resume Schedule With Fourth-Place Finish In Illinois

Margherite Pettenuzzo tallied 77 strokes (5-over-par) to tie for 13th place as UW-Oshkosh shared fourth place among 17 women's golf teams at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling held Saturday (April 13) at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.

The tournament, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University, was shortened to a one day, 18-hole event as Sunday's (April 14) round was cancelled due to the anticipation of inclement weather.

UW-Oshkosh, which hasn't competed since finishing third at the WIAC Championship on Oct. 7, totaled 314 strokes (26-over-par) to share fourth place in the team standings at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling with Wittenberg University (Ohio).

Grinnell College (Iowa) won the team title with 309 strokes (21-over-par) while Illinois Wesleyan University and St. Catherine University (Minn.) shared second place with 313. DePauw University finished sixth with 316 strokes.

UW-Oshkosh entered the tournament ranked 20th in the NCAA Division III by the Women's Golf Coaches Association while DePauw University listed third, Grinnell College seventh and Illinois Wesleyan University 19th.

Pettenuzzo led UW-Oshkosh with her best 18-hole score of the 2018-19 season. The Titans had three players tie for 22nd place as Hannah Braun, Erika Priebe and Kayla Priebe all recorded scores of 79.

UW-Oshkosh's Hanna Rebholz tied for 82nd place with her 94 strokes.

Jordan Koehler of Illinois Wesleyan University "B" and Larisa Luloff of DePauw University compiled 73 strokes to tie for the individual title. Finishing in a tie for third place among the tournament's 92 golfers with 75 strokes were Taylor Kehoe of Saint Mary's College (Ind.), Emily Kratz of Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) and Madison Wolters of Wittenberg University. 

UW-Oshkosh plays the second of its three spring tournaments at the UW-Whitewater Spring Invitational next weekend in Beloit. Competition will be held Friday (April 19) and Saturday (April 20) at the Beloit Club.
