Titans Finish Sixth At Division III Classic

UW-Oshkosh had a pair of top-18 individual performers as it finished sixth among 13 teams at the Division III Women's Golf Classic held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 15-16) at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 649 strokes (73-over-par) and earned its finish by reducing its daily 18-hole count from 329 strokes on Saturday to 320 on Sunday.

Carleton College (Minn.) won the event by 19 strokes over second-place College of Saint Benedict (Minn.). Carleton College tallied 604 strokes (28-over-par) by marking 297 strokes on Saturday and 307 on Sunday. The College of Saint Benedict finished right behind the Knights with 623 strokes (47-over-par).

UW-Stout and Wartburg College (Iowa) tied for third place with 638 strokes while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) finished fifth with 640 and St. Catherine University (Minn.) seventh with 654.

Hannah Braun sliced five strokes over her daily score to lead UW-Oshkosh with a 17th-place finish. Braun compiled 159 strokes (15-over-par) after recording 82 on Saturday and 77 on Sunday.

Kayla Priebe totaled one more stroke (160) than Braun and shared 18th place with two other golfers. Priebe counted 80 strokes on each day of the tournament. 

The Titans also had Margherite Pettenuzzo finish 30th with 165 strokes, Erika Priebe and Dianna Scheibe 35th with 167 and Hanna Rebholz 38th with 168.

UW-Stout's Madison McCambridge captured the individual title with 143 strokes (1-under-par). She defeated 74 other golfers by marking scores of 71 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday. 

Ayumi Sakamoto of Carleton College finished second with 146 strokes while Sydney Busker of St. Catherine University placed third with 147, Abby Euyang of Carleton College fourth with 148 and Brooke Klostermann of Wartburg College fifth with 150.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the UW-Whitewater Invitational next Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 22-23) at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove.
