Titans Finish Third At Wartburg College Invitational

UW-Oshkosh turned in another impressive performance as it finished third among 16 teams at the Wartburg College Women's Golf Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 8-9) at the Prairie Links Golf & Event Center in Waverly, Iowa.

UW-Oshkosh, which compiled 634 strokes in winning last weekend's 10-team Titan Fall Classic, tallied 18-holes scores of 308 on Saturday and 310 on Sunday to conclude this weekend's event with 618 total strokes (42-over-par).

Carleton College (Minn.) won its third straight Wartburg College Invitational with 593 strokes (17-over-par). The Knights defeated Grinnell College (Iowa) by 20 strokes as the Pioneers placed second with a score of 613 (37-over-par).

UW-Stout finished fourth in the team standings with 625 strokes while UW-Whitewater placed fifth with 635, Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) sixth with 636, Central College (Iowa) seventh with 644 and Bethel University (Minn.) eighth with 650.

Hannah Braun led the Titans for the second straight meet by finishing seventh with 150 strokes (6-over-par). Braun reached her score by counting 75 strokes on both days of the tournament. She previously placed 10th at the Wartburg College Invitational in 2017 and 13th in 2016. 

Grinnell College's Vidushi Sinha won the individual title with 147 strokes (3-over-par) while Abby Euyang and Ayumi Sakamoto of Carleton College placed second with 148 (4-over-par). Sinha defeated her 95 other challengers by recording 75 strokes on Saturday and 72 on Sunday.

UW-Oshkosh had five other top-50 golfers as Erika Priebe finished 14th with 154 strokes, Margherite Pettenuzzo and Kayla Priebe 21st with 157, Keara Richards 34th with 163 and Dianna Scheibe 49th with 169.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the Division III Classic next Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 15-16) in Lake City, Minn.
