Titans Edged By V-Hawks For Mad Dawg Invitational Title

The UW-Oshkosh women's golf team used four top-11 individual performances to finish second at the Mad Dawg Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 3-4) at the Stevens Point Country Club in Stevens Point.

Viterbo University edged UW-Oshkosh, 666-669, for first place in the 10-team meet. The Titans held a seven-stroke lead (329-336) over Viterbo University after Saturday's competition, but the V-Hawks rallied to outscore UW-Oshkosh by 10 strokes (330-340) on Sunday.

UW-Eau Claire finished third in the team standings with 695 strokes, while UW-Whitewater placed fourth 711, UW-Stout fifth with 721 and UW-Platteville sixth with 742.

McKenzie Paul led UW-Oshkosh with a second-place finish. She totaled 159 strokes after posting 18-hole scores of 80 on Saturday and 79 on Sunday. Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo University captured the individual title with 155 strokes.

UW-Oshkosh's Kayla Priebe, who led all 52 golfers after Saturday's action with 78 strokes, tallied 167 overall to share third place with UW-Stout's Rachel Hernandez. Steph Gerber and Mattie Mahlum of Viterbo University shared fifth place with 169 strokes.

UW-Oshkosh also received top-11 efforts from Micayla Richards and Laura Stair. Richards finished eighth with 171 strokes and Stair 11th with 173.

The Titans' Samantha Kuik ranked 20th with 179 strokes, Amanda Pederson 22nd with 181 and Ireland Dunne 35th with 192.

UW-Oshkosh concludes its fall schedule by competing at the WIAC Championship this weekend in Nekoosa. Competition in the three-day tournament begins Friday (Oct. 9) and concludes on Sunday (Oct. 11) at the Lake Arrowhead Golf Course.
