Titans Rally To Finish Second At Viterbo University Invitational

UW-Oshkosh improved its ranking by one position on Sunday (Sept. 13) to finish second at the Viterbo University Women's Golf Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was held at the La Crosse Country Club in Onalaska.

UW-Oshkosh listed third after Saturday's (Sept. 12) competition with 350 strokes, but the Titans erased their eight-stroke deficit to second-place Clarke University (Iowa) with a score of 334 on Sunday. The Crusaders tallied 342 strokes on Saturday and switched positions with UW-Oshkosh after falling to 352 strokes on Sunday.

Viterbo University split its squad into two groups and took two of the top four finishes in the six-team meet. Viterbo University Cardinal took first place with 661 overall strokes and Viterbo University Silver fourth with 758.

UW-Oshkosh finished second with 684 overall strokes, while Clarke University placed third with 694, St. Norbert College fifth with 767 and Wisconsin Lutheran College sixth with 810.

UW-Oshkosh's McKenzie Paul finished second in the individual category after leading all 32 golfers after Saturday's action. Paul posted daily scores of 79 on Saturday and 82 on Sunday.

Heather Zuleger of Viterbo University Cardinal captured the individual title with 160 strokes (16-over par), while Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo University Cardinal finished third with 162 and Ellie Ament of Clarke University fourth with 164. UW-Oshkosh's Kayla Priebe and Viterbo University Cardinal's Stephanie Gerber shared fifth place after totaling 169 strokes.

The Titans also had Micayla Richards finish 11th with 178 strokes, Laura Stair 17th with 186 and Samantha Kuik 20th with 188.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it competes at the UW-Whitewater Invitational on Sept. 25-26 in Delavan.
