Paul, Stair Lead Titans To Victory In Illinois

McKenzie Paul and Laura Stair shared the individual title to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's golf team to a first-place finish at the Augustana College Viking Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (April 25-26) at the Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.

Paul was the tournament's first-round leader with 80 strokes, 8-over-par. She duplicated that effort during the second 18-hole round to finish with 160 strokes, 16-over-par. Paul had two birdies, one each round.

Stair compiled 82 strokes during the first round and a tournament-best 78 during the second. Her 160 overall strokes featured two birdies, both during the opening round.

UW-Platteville's Stephanie Baribeau finished third and Lindsay Neitzel fifth with 161 and 168 strokes, respectively. Jessica Schuerman of Millikin University (Ill.) ranked fourth among the tournament's 41 golfers with 166 strokes.

Three other golfers represented UW-Oshkosh at the tournament. Taylor Wenzel finished seventh with 171 strokes, Micayla Richards 14th with 178 and Samantha Kuik 17th with 179.

UW-Oshkosh captured the team championship with 668 strokes, 92-over-par. The Titans totaled a tournament-low 334 strokes each round.

UW-Platteville finished second in the seven-team meet with 677 strokes, while Monmouth College (Ill.) placed third with 695, Augustana College (Ill.) fourth with 708 and Millikin University (Ill.) fifth with 731. UW-Whitewater ranked sixth with 750 strokes and Fontbonne University (Mo.) seventh with 814.
