Titans Grab Fourth Place At UW-Stevens Point Invitational

UW-Oshkosh golfer McKenzie Paul continued her impressive season by finishing second at the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 27-28) in Stevens Point.

Paul, who has finished no lower than fourth in any of her five performances, totaled 161 strokes to share second place with UW-Stevens Point's Tiffany Boak. Paul recorded 18-hole scores of 78 on Saturday and 83 on Sunday to finish the tournament 15-over par.

Brittany McNett-Emerich of UW-Stout captured the individual title with 160 strokes. She trailed Paul, the first-day leader, by three strokes after Saturday's competition.

Three golfers shared fourth place as Danielle Duckow of Viterbo University, Gina Falvey of Fontbonne University and Perle Pondepeyre of Cardinal Stritch University counted 162 strokes.

UW-Oshkosh had five other golfers in the field of 78 competitors, including Laura Stair who placed 17th with 170 strokes. The Titans also had Micayla Richards finish 30th with 178 strokes, Samantha Kuik 35th with 182, Taylor Wenzel 43rd with 185 and Emily Mallek 52nd with 193.

UW-Stout won the team title with 651 strokes, 67-over par. The Blue Devils posted scores of 332 on Saturday and 319 on Sunday for the lowest figure on each of the two days of competition.

UW-Oshkosh finished fourth among the 14 teams with 684 strokes. The Titans tallied 340 shots on Saturday and 344 on Sunday.

Viterbo University placed second with 663 strokes, while UW-Whitewater ranked third with 677 and UW-Platteville fifth with 693.

The event was held at the par-73, 5,802-yard Stevens Point Country Club.

UW-Oshkosh concludes its fall schedule by competing at the WIAC Championship this weekend in Nekoosa. Competition in the three-day tournament begins Friday (Oct. 3) and concludes on Sunday (Oct. 5) at the Lake Arrowhead Golf Course.
