Titans Earn Opening-Day Victory

Results

The top-five individual finishers belonged to UW-Oshkosh as the Titans opened their 2014 women's golf season with a convincing 347-432 victory over St. Norbert College on Saturday (Aug. 30) at the Oshkosh Country Club.

Laura Stair, a first-year transfer from Ashford University (Iowa), led UW-Oshkosh and all 12 golfers with a nine-over par 82. Her 18-hole score featured one birdie and nine pars.

UW-Oshkosh's McKenzie Paul finished second with 83 strokes, while Samantha Kuik placed third with 90, Micayla Richards fourth with 92 and Taylor Wenzel fifth with 94. Paul's result also included one birdie and nine pars.

Taylor Debski led St. Norbert College with her sixth-place score of 95 strokes. The Green Knights' Laura Roethlisberger placed eighth with 104.

UW-Oshkosh also had Emily Mallek finish seventh with 101 strokes and Sarah Stefaniak 19th with 123.

The par-73 Oshkosh Country Club course played to a length of 5,812 yards.

The Titans host the UW-Oshkosh Invitational next weekend at the Oshkosh Country Club. Competition tees off on Saturday (Sept. 6) at 1 p.m. and Sunday (Sept. 7) at 8:30 a.m.
