Titans To Play First College Basketball Game In Menominee Nation Arena

The nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's basketball team will take part in the first college game to be played in Oshkosh's Menominee Nation Arena, the home of the National Basketball Association (NBA) G League's Wisconsin Herd.

UW-Oshkosh is set to play Carroll University on Dec. 30 in the newly constructed 3,600-seat professional basketball arena. Tipoff for the 24th meeting between the teams is set for 2 p.m.

"We are extremely excited to partner with the Menominee Nation Arena staff on this event," UW-Oshkosh head coach Brad Fischer said. "We look to create as many experiences as possible for our student-athletes, and I believe this opportunity will be something our players will always remember."

The matchup against Carroll University will be the Titans' second home game of the year. UW-Oshkosh, which won its home opener by a 93-31 score over Edgewood College on Nov. 21 in Kolf Sports Center, defeated Carroll University, 84-51, last year in Waukesha.

UW-Oshkosh (9-0), ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com, currently leads the country in scoring margin (+40.7), turnovers per game (8.8) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.27) while listing second nationally in field goal percentage (.490) and scoring defense (42.2).

Menominee Nation Arena (1100 S. Main St.) hosted its first professional game on Dec. 1, when the Wisconsin Herd played the Iowa Wolves.

The Wisconsin Herd, owned by the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks, is a new franchise in the NBA G League team located in Oshkosh. The 26-team NBA G League is the NBA's official minor league.

"I know this arena will be an incredible asset to this community and for us to play the first college basketball game in this facility is incredibly special," Fischer said. "That privilege is not lost on our women's basketball program."

Ticket prices for the game between UW-Oshkosh and Carroll University are $8 for adults and $5 for students (K-12 & College). Tickets for courtside seating are available for a cost of $10 or $15. No UW-Oshkosh faculty/staff, parent or student passes will be accepted.
