Menting Receives CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

UW-Oshkosh senior catcher Abby Menting was one of 11 student-athletes voted to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® 6 NCAA Division III Softball Team.

The squad, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Academic All-District® 6 Team was comprised of student-athletes from institutions in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.

Menting, who owns a 3.98 cumulative grade point average as a supply chain management major, earned All-WIAC honorable mention recognition this spring after being named the league's Co-Position Player of the Year in 2016 and a First Team selection in 2017.

Menting started all 39 games that she played for UW-Oshkosh this spring. She hit .348 on the year, tying for the team lead with 40 hits and eight doubles while hitting three home runs and driving in 23 runs. Menting had nine multiple-hit contests this year and six games with multiple RBIs as the Titans posted a 23-17 record and finished fifth in the WIAC.

Menting, a two-time NCAA Division III All-Great Lakes Region First Team selection (2016 & 2017), concluded her standout career ranked third on the school's all-time list with 66 walks, sixth with 38 doubles and seventh with 17 home runs. Menting also compiled a .353 batting average during her 163-game career (162 starts) with 115 runs batted in and percentages of .561 for slugging and .447 for on-base.

Menting, a graduate of Kimberly High School, is a seven-time UW-Oshkosh Dean's List member. The three-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll selection was also named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® 6 NCAA Division III Softball First Team in 2017.

Off the field Menting has volunteered with the St. Joseph's Food Pantry, Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Center and the Oshkosh Area Community Food Pantry.

Other WIAC student-athletes voted to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® 6 NCAA Division III Softball Team were UW-Whitewater's Julie Camardo (pitcher) and Caitlin Catino (outfielder).
