Titans Earn A Pair Of WIAC Softball Player Of The Week Citations

UW-Oshkosh swept the WIAC Softball Player of the Week awards as first baseman Kaitlyn Krol and right-handed throwing Claire Petrus were honored for their effort in games held Feb. 26 - March 4.

Krol was named the conference's top position player while Petrus was chosen as the league's top pitcher.

Krol hit .444 (8-18) with two doubles, one triple, one home run and 10 runs batted in as UW-Oshkosh posted a 3-3 record at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic in Tucson, Ariz.

Krol scored four runs and hit safely in four of the Titans' six games. She recorded a slugging percentage of .833 and an on-base percentage of .474. She also fielded all 33 chances without an error. 

Krol drove in three runs in three contests, including a 3-for-4 performance with a double during the Titans' 12-3 (5 inning) win over DePauw University (Ind.) on March 3. She also went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in during both the Titans' 4-3 (8 inning) win over Wittenberg University (Ohio) and 11-6 loss to the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) on March 4.

Petrus compiled a 3-0 record with a 3.21 earned run average in 24 innings pitched at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic.

Petrus completed all three games she started, including an eight-inning performance during the Titans' 4-3 (8 innings) win over Wittenberg University on March 4. She allowed seven hits to the Tigers while striking out three batters.

Petrus also pitched all seven innings in the Titans' 10-5 win over Messiah College (Pa.) on March 2 and all five innings during UW-Oshkosh's 12-3 (5 innings) victory over DePauw University on March 3. She allowed 10 hits to Messiah College and just three to DePauw University.
