Four Titans Selected For All-WIAC Softball Team

For the second straight year, UW-Oshkosh had four players voted to the All-WIAC Softball Team.

Shortstop Haley Bayreuther, first baseman Tess Fadness, catcher Katie Koepsel and outfielder Hayden Krueger were honored for their performance. This is the third all-league award for Koepsel and the second for both Fadness and Krueger.

The Titans set several school records during 2014, including team batting average (.344), slugging percentage (.521) and doubles (76).

Bayreuther led the WIAC with four triples, 24 walks and a .496 on-base percentage. She hit .370 while totaling three homers, five doubles and 13 runs batted in. Bayreuther ranked second in the conference with 39 runs and third with 13 stolen bases.

Fadness topped the WIAC with her .450 batting average. She posted 50 hits, including three home runs and 14 doubles, with 38 RBI. Fadness also hit seven sacrifice flies to lead the NCAA Division III.

Over the last four years, Fadness started all 150 games. She ranks second in school history with 112 RBI, third with 40 doubles and fifth with 19 home runs. Fadness also totaled a .365 average, 170 hits, 85 runs and nine stolen bases.

Tying a league record, Koepsel finished the season with 20 doubles. She led the WIAC with 43 RBI, while ranking second with a .791 slugging percentage. Koepsel booked a .418 average with seven homers and 29 runs scored. During a doubleheader sweep at UW-Platteville, Koepsel totaled six hits, four home runs and six RBI.

Krueger finished the season on fire, counting 14 hits in the last nine games. She compiled a .413 average with six homers, 10 doubles, 31 runs and 33 RBI. Krueger hit a single, double, triple and home run in her first four at-bats against UW-Superior on April 27.

UW-Oshkosh had third baseman Kassie Krueger and pitcher Jill Vondrak receive All-WIAC honorable mention. Vondrak ranked third in the league with 12 wins, in addition to her 64 strikeouts and 2.62 ERA over 109.1 innings.

Kassie Krueger batted .382 with one homer, eight doubles, 18 RBI and 13 stolen bases (third in WIAC). She also played stellar defense, committing zero errors in her last 39 games.

The All-WIAC Team consisted of 20 players, including four from both UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks' Morgan Krisch received Player of the Year and Kelly McGrail earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year. UW-Stout owned Pitcher of the Year Tori Workman and Coach of the Year Chris Stainer.

The Titans compiled with a 23-11 record for their 11th straight winning season.
