Chadwick Earns All-America Recognition At NCAA Championship

UW-Oshkosh junior Cody Chadwick earned All-America honors with his 21st-place finish at the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championship held Saturday (Nov. 23) at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.

Chadwick, who was the Titans' lone representative at the national meet, completed the 8,000-meter race in a time of 24:50. He became UW-Oshkosh's first All-American since Jordan Carpenter finished 13th at the 2015 Division III Championship held at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

Chadwick received one of 56 at-large berths into this year's Division III Championship after placing 11th at the Midwest Regional held last Saturday (Nov. 16) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club. He was a 67th-place finisher at last year's Division III Championship, also held at the Lake Breeze Golf Club.

Patrick Watson of Stevenson University (Md.) won Saturday's race of 280 runners with his time of 24:14. He was a 15th-place finisher at last year's championship.

Matthew Wilkinson of Carleton College (Minn.) finished second to Watson with his time of 24:20 while Thomas D'Anieri of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (Calif.) placed third in 24:26, Jared Pangallozzi of Johns Hopkins University (Md.) fourth in 24:32 and Josh Schraeder of UW-La Crosse fifth in 24:33.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.), coached by Carpenter, scored 164 points to win its first NCAA Division III team title. The Sagehens were a seventh-place finisher at last year's championship.

Completing the list of top five teams at Saturday's meet were second-place and three-time defending national champion North Central College (Ill.) with 182 points, third-place Williams College (Mass.) with 183, fourth-place Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) with 193 and fifth-place Johns Hopkins University (Md.) with 208.

UW-Oshkosh was not among the 32 squads participating in the team competition.
