Titans' Season Opener Results In Third-Place Finish

Cody Chadwick ran to the individual title as the UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team began its 2019 season with a third-place finish at the UW-Parkside Vic Godfrey Open held Friday (Sept. 6) in Somers.

Chadwick, who finished 30th in last year's race, defeated 89 other runners on Friday with his winning 8,000-meter time of 25:48.

UW-Parkside's Brock Evans finished second to Chadwick with a time of 25:52.

The University of Chicago (Ill.) swept the next six individual listings, including the third-place reference of 25:53 from Cy Chittenden. The Maroons also had Chase Gardner place fourth in 26:12 and Charlie Nevins fifth in 26:14.

Helping Chadwick form UW-Oshkosh's team score of 73 points were Andrew Rathkamp, Andrew Muskevitsch, Noah O'Neill and Joe Kehoe. Rathkamp finished 18th with a time of 27:05 while Muskevitsch placed 22nd in 27:16, O'Neill 29th in 27:44 and Kehoe 30th in 27:44.

UW-Oshkosh also had 12 other runners in the top 60 as Mitchell Bradford finished 34th in 27:51, Andrew Strasser 35th in 27:54, Jason Ford 36th in 27:55, Spencer Muffler 41st in 28:22, Parker Scheld 49th in 28:58, Henry Laste 50th in 29:05, Austin Baker 51st in 29:05, Noah Bruehl 52nd in 29:05, Skyler Yunk 53rd in 29:08, Jack Rindahl 56th in 29:20, Aaron Dorsey 57th in 29:24 and Bob Szymanski 60th in 29:38.

The University of Chicago won the eight-team meet with 25 points. The Maroons were followed in the team standings by second-place UW-Parkside with 68 points, third-place UW-Oshkosh, fourth-place North Central College (Ill.) with 77 and fifth-place UW-Green Bay with 160.

The University of Chicago, UW-Oshkosh and North Central College are all NCAA Division III members while UW-Parkside is nationally affiliated with Division II and UW-Green Bay with Division I.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts the Titan Fall Classic on Sept. 20 at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.
